What you’ll do

Being part of an agile team, the API Engineer will contribute in designing and implementing Vodafone’s high volume and high impact microservices for mobile/web applications. 

 

More specifically you will: 

  • Work as part of a team and develop highly performant microservices based on the JVM  
  • Develop scalable solutions - use the latest in Tech to handle large traffic spikes and many millions of REST calls per microservice per day 
  • Improve the core Vodafone infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, Java) to deliver value to the technical business and improve the Cluster Health 
  • Contribute, as member of an agile team, in the research, analysis, design development and testing of solutions that best suit business and technology strategy 
  • Contribute to the development of in-house tools to facilitate development and maximize developer happiness 
  • Ensure technical integrity and quality control consistency throughout the development life cycle 
  • Participate in code reviews and shared knowledge 
  • Transform functional requirements to technical user stories and assign business value 
  • Collaborate with mobile and web development teams to develop features from conception to launch 
  • Help in removing technical impediments raised by team 
     

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or other related field   
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in design and development of RESTful APIs using a cloud-friendly technology like Quarkus, Spring Boot, or any other JVM-based technology  
  • Have a deep understanding of RESTful principles (WSDL understanding is a plus, but not required)  
  • Familiarity with Document Storages (like MongoDB) will be highly appreciated  
  • Have a grasp of Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA), Microservices, and distributed systems  
  • Ability to grasp Software Engineering concepts at scale  
  • Be able to work in a fast-moving team which values communication & team spirit 
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving, self-motivated and self-managing with strong interpersonal skills   
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both Greek & English and with both technical and business audiences  
  • Open source contributions will be considered a plus  
  • Working experience in agile environments/teams will be highly appreciated 
  • Fulfilled military services (for male candidates)
