What you’ll do

  • Monitor customer networks and network elements continually, in line with defined service-level agreements.
  • Identify and validate alarms, carry out an initial diagnosis and classify faults according to service requirements.
  • Notify customers and internal stakeholders about faults and their potential network impact.
  • Create accurate trouble tickets and route them to the appropriate fault-resolution or investigation teams.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, incident management teams, service desks, first-line support teams and key IT contacts.
  • Communicate faults accurately to customers within the required notification timelines.
  • Help maintain high service availability by supporting timely fault identification and escalation.
  • Contribute practical ideas for improving network-monitoring processes and service quality.
  • Prioritise monitoring and communication activities effectively during high-pressure operational situations.

Who you are

  • You have foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including the OSI model, TCP/IP, basic routing and switching.
  • Exposure to Cisco networking is preferable.
  • You can use common desktop applications, including Windows operating systems, internet browsers, office software and email applications.
  • You have an engineering qualification; an engineering diploma is acceptable.
  • A CCNA certification or postgraduate qualification in advanced networking is desirable.
  • Experience in an ISP, telecommunications, Network Operations Centre or managed-services environment is desirable.
  • You apply methodical troubleshooting, analytical thinking and structured problem-solving.
  • You communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
  • You can learn independently, acquire new technical knowledge quickly and work collaboratively.
  • You can organise priorities during high-pressure situations and take ownership of finding appropriate solutions.
  • You are comfortable working in a 24x7x365 shift environment.
