About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Operations Engineer to support the operations and maintenance of the VF-IP Office LAN and VF Core IP networks. This role combines advanced network operations expertise with software development and automation capabilities to improve service reliability, enhance operational efficiency and support the delivery of new network services and projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in troubleshooting complex network issues, implementing automation solutions, maintaining security standards and ensuring high service availability across multi-vendor network environments.

What you’ll do

  • Perform operations and maintenance activities across the VF-IP Office LAN and VF Core IP network.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot incidents, resolve problems and implement new projects and services.
  • Implement and maintain software applications, patches and workarounds to support network analysis and configuration improvements.
  • Develop software solutions to automate network service delivery, monitoring and troubleshooting activities.
  • Create and maintain scripting solutions that support task automation and automated resolution of potential outages.
  • Modify and enhance scripts and software solutions in line with changes to network architecture.
  • Deliver services in line with agreed SLA targets.
  • Minimise the impact of network changes on service continuity.
  • Ensure timely implementation and delivery of new projects.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of network security baselines.
  • Provide 24x7 operational support through shift rotations, including regular night shifts.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call support for second-level operational activities.
  • Perform operational lifecycle management activities for IP Core and access networks.
  • Fulfil standard service requests and perform incident and problem management activities.
  • Maintain the availability and operational health of network devices.
  • Deliver Core IP project tasks in close partnership with engineering teams.
  • Conduct walkthroughs and health checks for IP Core and IP Access network elements.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation.
  • Support anti-sabotage prevention requirements within operational processes.

Who you are

  • Experience adjusting scripts and automation solutions to support troubleshooting within IP network environments.Ability to debug software solutions used for mitigation and automated incident resolution, including Layer 7 application analysis and packet tracing using Wireshark.
  • Strong expertise in troubleshooting complex multi-vendor IP networks.Deep understanding of networking protocols, standards and security technologies.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience managing IP LAN and IP Core networks within a large-scale organisation.
  • English language proficiency at an advanced level and German language skills nice to have.
  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification, or equivalent.JNCIA Junos or JNCIA-SEC certification, or equivalent.Scripting experience.
  • Proven hands-on experience with:
    • Cisco IOS-XE, NX-OS and IOS-XR
    • Cisco routing and switching platforms including ASR, Catalyst, ISR and Nexus
    • Cisco Firepower and ASA firewalls
    • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
    • Cisco wireless solutions
    • Juniper JunOS
    • Juniper SRX firewalls
    • FortiOS
    • Fortinet proxy appliances and FortiManager architecture
    • Infoblox DNS and DHCP platforms
    • Anti-DDoS solutions including Arbor and Radware
    • Deep Packet Inspection platforms
    • Unix, Linux and CentOS systems
    • Cisco ACI environments
