About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with strong Python software development capabilities to join our Data Science DevOps team within Vodafone Network Operations.
You will use data science, machine learning and AI to automate operational processes and support Vodafone's journey towards an Autonomous Network. Taking end-to-end responsibility, you will work from defining the target vision and analysing large datasets through to developing and implementing intelligent software solutions that proactively identify network, service and customer issues.
This role combines hands-on data science with software engineering, telecommunications knowledge and agile DevOps practices.

What you’ll do

  • Develop Python software within a collaborative, agile development environment.
  • Analyse large datasets using data science, statistical methods, machine learning and AI.
  • Design and implement algorithms for real-time detection of customer, network and service issues.
  • Explore and apply AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and machine learning, to operational challenges.
  • Translate analytical insights into implemented solutions in close collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Take end-to-end ownership from target definition and data analysis through to implementation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of agile DevOps and CI/CD processes.
  • Deliver projects against agreed quality and timeline objectives.
  • Take a proactive, self-directed approach to identifying and resolving project challenges.
  • Contribute to operational efficiency objectives through data-driven automation.

Who you are

  • You have strong analytical, statistical, and data science capabilities, with a proven record of implementing solutions.
  • You bring at least 3 years of software development experience, with strong programming skills and particular expertise in Python.
  • You have experience applying data science techniques to large datasets.
  • You understand telecommunications networks.
  • You have knowledge of Agile methodologies and development tools.
  • You approach complex problems with structured, solution-oriented thinking.
  • You can work autonomously while collaborating effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Communications Engineering, or a related field.
  • A PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline is advantageous but not required.
