About this Role

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Project Management Team Leader to guide and develop a high-performing team of project managers delivering complex IT and technology programmes across Vodafone Group. Based in Bucharest, this role combines strategic leadership, operational excellence, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure projects are delivered on time, on quality, and on budget, while continuously improving ways of working through automation and AI-driven transformation.

What you will do

  • Lead, support, and develop a team of 10–20 project managers working across diverse IT projects, including infrastructure, IT operations, and application development.
  • Coach and mentor team members, with a strong focus on capability building and career development, particularly for junior colleagues.
  • Drive continuous improvement of delivery methodologies, tools, and governance frameworks to enhance efficiency and predictability.
  • Assign, track, and monitor initiatives end-to-end, ensuring clear ownership and successful completion.
  • Enable and champion transformation initiatives through AI and automation within project delivery practices.
  • Oversee operational and management reporting, including inputs that support outcome-based commercial models.
  • Proactively identify, assess, mitigate, and escalate risks, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across technology, business, and partner teams.
  • Where required, directly manage specific projects, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, timelines, quality, and budget.

Who you are

  • An experienced project or programme management professional with proven people leadership experience.
  • Comfortable working within telco and IT environments, with a solid understanding of technology-driven programmes.
  • A confident communicator with strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experienced in budgeting, financial tracking, and commercial awareness within project environments.
  • Organised, structured, and able to manage multiple priorities with clarity and focus.
  • Fluent in English at B2 level or above; additional languages are considered an advantage.
  • Educated to university degree level in computer science, electrical, electronic, telecommunications engineering, or a related management discipline.
  • Professionally certified in project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, or SAFe.
