About this Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Voice Core Operations Leader to oversee the operational performance, stability, and continuous evolution of Vodafone’s voice core infrastructure across Ireland, Portugal, and Romania. Based in Bucharest, this role holds end-to-end accountability for mobile and fixed voice services, ensuring high availability, service quality, operational efficiency, and resilience.
 
The role provides leadership to geographically distributed teams and works closely with Voice, Data and Cloud Operations leaders, Engineering teams, and strategic partners to drive operational excellence, automation, harmonisation, and digitalisation initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a reliable customer experience while supporting network modernisation and technology transformation.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the end-to-end operational management of mobile and fixed voice core networks across Ireland, Portugal, and Romania.
  • Ensure high-quality service performance through effective incident management and proactive, preventive maintenance practices.
  • Deliver 24/7 operational excellence, including service restoration, incident response, problem management, change management, and operational governance.
  • Oversee network rollouts, upgrades, configuration changes, and technology introductions that support network evolution and modernisation objectives.
  • Ensure all network changes comply with resilience, monitoring, quality, and operational standards.
  • Drive automation, harmonisation, and digitalisation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure effective service delivery, performance, and value creation.
  • Support budget planning activities, ensuring priorities are appropriately funded and spending is transparent and aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and Operations stakeholders to support strategic business and customer requirements.
  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 19 colleagues across Ireland, Portugal, and Romania.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence aligned with Vodafone Spirit behaviours.
  • Build and support technical career pathways that enable capability growth, talent retention, and long-term organisational success.

Who you are

  • Extensive knowledge of mobile and fixed core network architectures, platforms, and operational environments.
  • Deep end-to-end understanding of Core Network technologies and services.
  • Proven experience leading multicultural and geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong people leadership capabilities with a track record of building engaged, collaborative, and high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex operational challenges and respond effectively during critical incidents and high-pressure situations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across functions and locations.
  • Sound decision-making skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and resolve challenges constructively.
  • Experience managing vendors, operational budgets, and service delivery outcomes.
  • Strong customer focus and business awareness combined with a commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ability to deliver results within demanding timelines while maintaining service quality and resilience.
  • Excellent communication skills with very good written and spoken English.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive approach to managing change and unexpected situations.
  • Typically brings 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
