Senior Manager Business Development and Ventures
Role purpose:
Digital Sales & Marketing_VOIS is a rapidly growing Go-To-Market division within Vodafone Intelligent Solutions. We provide sales and marketing coverage solutions to the wider Vodafone and beyond. To support our quest to grow our participation and relevance to Vodafone we are appointing a new Channel Development Senior Manager and Ventures Lead.
The primary responsibility for this role is to develop pipeline and win new expansion opportunities for the Sales and Marketing organisation. Preparing and delivering strong business case proposals to senior leaders across the company and externally is a critical part of the job. Shared ownership, with the Regional Lead or Marketing equivalent, for the initial start-up phase of any new business is also a key responsibility.
The SCDM leads the senior level negotiations and manages the master content and collateral of the DS&M value proposition. A thorough understanding of the core Sales and Marketing processes is vital. The role holder will spend time with each of the line of business leaders to understand their current operating models and scope for potential growth. When building a business case, the SCDM will leverage the relevant supporting organisation to ensure an accurate data-based model is presented to the Op-cos and other partners and will look to maintain an up-to-date data set as part of the master content.
The SCDM scope also extends to Ventures. Aligned to the purposes of a Digital Society and Inclusion for All, Ventures is an innovation hub that seeks out opportunities to commercialise and scale with a particular focus on Connected Education and Digital Assisted Living.
Ventures orchestrates the connection between relevant market teams and external vendors to establish a market specific sales play that can be repeated and introduced to other operating companies within Vodafone and to our partner markets.
When required, the SCDM will leverage assets from the Vodafone Product Group and Tech_VOIS to assist in the proposition build.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
• Identify, qualify, propose and close opportunities with local markets to enable Digital Sales & Marketing growth
• Develop and own expansion plans that enable OpCo’s to meet business challenges by showcasing Digital Sales & Marketing as Centres of Excellence and Ventures as a new GTM proposition
• Own the governance of the Digital Sales & Marketing expansion process and be accountable for the initial launch phase of each mission
• Ensure that Digital Sales builds meaningful relationships with key contacts at EBU “Head of” level and owns the bi-annual NPS survey to track
• Partner with peers and others within the wider DS&M organisation and across VOIS to establish a fit for purpose go to market motion across the role scope
• Accountable for delivery of special projects as and when required
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
• Established track record of sales / sales management, marketing and business development in a B2B context
• Experience of developing successful c-level relationships internally and externally
• Expert level COE resource management
• Confident in highly ambiguous environments and able to drive outcomes autonomously whilst managing complexity
• Experience working with digital selling methodologies and platforms
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
• Degree level education required
• Fluent English
• Fluency (spoken and written) in another European language is beneficial
