About this Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our Analytics & Machine Learning Centre of Excellence. This role is pivotal in designing and developing analytical models and insight packs that transform raw data into actionable intelligence. The individual will work across local and partner markets, as well as corporate accounts, applying predictive and descriptive statistical techniques to support strategic decision-making. The role involves close collaboration with commercial teams and technical stakeholders to ensure robust, scalable, and secure data solutions.
What you’ll do
- Build, test, and deliver analytical models using diverse datasets to support business use cases.
- Prepare and cleanse data using SQL and NoSQL techniques, optimising for statistical modelling.
- Develop descriptive and predictive models tailored to specific market segments, products, and services.
- Present actionable insights to commercial teams based on model outcomes.
- Collaborate with TechOps and Architecture teams to select and implement suitable data platform technologies.
- Ensure solutions are supportable, secure, and aligned with disaster recovery and encryption best practices.
- Establish and enforce design and coding standards, mentor team members, and lead internal technical training.
- Participate in business analysis and documentation of information requests.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Who You are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in SQL and databases such as Teradata, Oracle, or MySQL.
- Skilled in statistical tools including Python, R, SAS EM, MATLAB, SPSS, and Teradata Warehouse Miner.
- Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and their real-world applications.
- Experience working with high-volume, high-dimensional data, preferably in Hadoop/Spark environments.
- Effective communicator across technical and organisational boundaries.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive process innovation.
- Capable of mentoring peers and delivering internal technical training.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
