About this Role

We are seeking an experienced IP Network Design and Test Specialist to develop, validate and standardise IP and SDN network solutions within the Connectivity and Cloud Engineering (CCE) domain. This role focuses on designing and testing IP network features and transformations in a central laboratory environment, driving harmonised configurations, and enabling automation across global networks. The role plays a key part in shaping network strategy through robust testing, standardisation, and close collaboration with engineering, operations, and vendor partners.

What you’ll do

  • Develop IP network design solutions for CCE networks based on architectural inputs and validate them through structured testing in the central laboratory
  • Design and execute testing for new features, network transformations, and SDN use cases, including both manual and automated approaches
  • Define standard configuration guidelines derived from laboratory testing to support harmonised deployment across global IP networks
  • Design, dimension, and configure cloud‑based laboratory environments to host virtualised transport network applications such as SDN controllers, virtual routers, firewalls, and security platforms
  • Lead hardware and software regression testing, with a strong focus on test automation
  • Define test templates and collaborate with automation specialists to translate test cases into reusable automated scripts
  • Maintain and evolve test catalogues through ongoing collaboration with other engineering teams
  • Manage central laboratory environments, ensuring coverage of approved hardware and software aligned with harmonisation roadmaps
  • Introduce laboratory automation using in‑house or third‑party tools to reduce manual configuration activities
  • Support proof‑of‑concept activities to certify new hardware, software, and network solutions
  • Act as a key interface with vendors to stay informed on platform capabilities, features, and lifecycle considerations

Who you are

  • An experienced IP networking professional with strong hands‑on knowledge of IP/MPLS technologies, including BGP, ISIS, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs, QoS, multicast, IPv6, and NFV
  • Knowledgeable in SDN architectures and protocols, with an understanding of how automation supports network engineering and operations
  • Experienced in virtualisation technologies and laboratory environments, including VMware‑based platforms
  • Comfortable working across the full network lifecycle, from design and build through testing and validation
  • A collaborative team contributor with strong communication skills and cultural awareness
  • Confident presenting technical concepts to internal stakeholders and engaging constructively with vendors and partners
  • Motivated, pragmatic, and able to progress complex technical initiatives with minimal supervision
