About this Role
What you’ll do
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for network and security technologies across infrastructure build and operational functions.
- Manage technical support activities and resolve complex network and security escalations.
- Lead delivery activities for critical network infrastructure projects, solutions and services.
- Provide on-site support for data centres, disaster recovery locations and other sites during incidents, change requests and planned technical activities.
- Contribute technical input during the early design stage, including operational requirements, technology compatibility and bills of quantities.
- Work with solution and design teams to support deployment, integration, testing, user acceptance testing and transition into network operations.
- Maintain accurate technical and operational documentation throughout service transitions.
- Assess infrastructure, processes and operational performance to identify continual service improvement and automation opportunities.
- Maintain resilient and secure infrastructure covering web and cloud proxies, load balancers, firewalls, virtual private networks and associated security platforms.
- Support secure authentication capabilities, including network access control, certificate deployment and port-based network access.
- Maintain routing, switching and data-centre networking technologies, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, redundancy protocols, spanning-tree technologies, link aggregation and quality of service.
- Use monitoring, traffic analysis and troubleshooting tools to investigate network performance and security issues.
- Proactively monitor system performance and availability and implement corrective actions to improve service levels.
- Conduct capacity planning and support availability, event and continuity management to maintain reliable network services.
- Maintain backup, restoration and disaster recovery procedures.
- Develop standard operating procedures, automate repeatable activities and keep knowledge-management content current.
- Collaborate with service management, information security and technical support teams on investigations, service improvement plans and audit remediation.
- Coordinate security-device hardening with technical experts, vendors and original equipment manufacturers.
- Work within established configuration, change and IT service management processes.
- Coordinate operational and information-security activity calendars, audits, documentation and closure of identified gaps.
- Share knowledge and support capability development within the team.
Who you are
- You have 2-5 years of experience in network and security technologies, including substantial knowledge of IP architecture.
- You possess strong practical knowledge of IP network security and related technologies.
- You have experience with network security technologies such as Infoblox, web and cloud proxies, F5 LTM or GTM, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Cisco VPN or comparable platforms.
- You understand enterprise routing, switching and wireless technologies.
- You have supported major security architectures and complex project transitions.
- You can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, vendors and technical partners.
- You understand ITIL or IT service management principles and can work within configuration and change-management controls.
- You hold a technical qualification such as a BE, BTech, BSc, MSc in IT, or another science-related degree.
- You hold a Cisco Professional or Expert certification. Relevant certifications may include CCNP, CCSP, CCIE or an equivalent qualification.
- Certifications or practical experience relating to Fortinet, firewalls, proxies, F5 technologies or ITIL would be advantageous.
- You demonstrate analytical, presentation and communication skills.
- You can prioritise effectively and adapt to rapidly changing operational requirements.
- You can provide on-site support when required.
