About this role

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of secure, reliable, and scalable Kubernetes-based platforms. This role involves creating production-ready solutions for hosting applications in private cloud environments, enabling faster delivery of modern applications across Vodafone’s global footprint. You will work closely with product teams to enhance developer experience and streamline operational processes.

What you’ll do

  • Build, operate, and continuously improve Kubernetes (EKS) platforms for security, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Design and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code stacks using Terraform for AWS services.
  • Provide self-service capabilities for developers through standardised templates, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Develop automation and internal tooling (Python/Bash) to eliminate manual tasks and accelerate delivery.
  • Implement and enforce security guardrails, including IAM least privilege and secrets management.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git-based workflows and tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Jenkins.
  • Embed observability by default, including logging, metrics, alerting, and tracing for robust service management.
  • Collaborate with product teams to improve developer experience and reduce operational overhead.

Who you are

  • 3 years + Experienced in system integration and implementation of DevOps tools and Kubernetes/Docker environments.
  • Skilled in managing migrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting across UNIX/Linux platforms.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using Python, Ruby, or Go.
  • Familiar with AWS services, networking, IAM, and security best practices.
  • Knowledgeable in microservices architecture, databases (Postgres, DynamoDB, Cassandra), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • ITIL Foundation certification and Remedy background are advantageous.
