About this Role

 

We are seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer to enhance the reliability, stability and performance of Vodafone’s IoT platforms. The individual will play a key role in ensuring operational continuity, enabling seamless deployments, driving automation, collaborating closely with development and architecture teams, and contributing to the design and improvement of large‑scale IoT systems. The role sits at the heart of IoT growth initiatives, supporting high-impact solutions in an agile, cross-functional environment.

What you will do

 

Create and manage the design, build, configuration, and deployment of IoT products and platforms.
Integrate continuous integration and deployment principles to enhance operational automation.
Collaborate with development teams to support rigorous testing and streamlined release processes.
Develop and maintain sustainable systems and services through automation initiatives.
Monitor production environments proactively, ensuring system availability and overall health.
Build tools and scripts to automate operational activities and work towards zero‑touch operations.
Improve reliability, quality, and delivery speed of IoT software solutions.
Support and deploy software packages in line with release timelines, ensuring smooth transitions to production.
Lead incident management activities to diagnose, resolve and prevent software issues in line with SLAs.
Conduct problem management by identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
Contribute to knowledge sharing and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

Who you are

 

Strong understanding of IoT technologies, architectures and related integration approaches.
Skilled in problem-solving, debugging, analysis and troubleshooting.
Background in software development for internet, mobile or communications technologies.
Passionate about working in international, agile, cross‑functional settings.
Strong communication and presentation skills in English.
Proven experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
Solid programming background, particularly with object‑oriented languages such as Java.
+3 years of hands-on experience supporting and integrating enterprise‑grade solutions.
Proficient in Unix/Linux system administration and shell scripting.
Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Git, Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube, Salt and similar technologies.
Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiar with microservices architecture and cloud/web service technologies (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, WSDL).
Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases such as MariaDB, Postgres, Keycloak, Redis or MongoDB.
Understanding of web development technologies such as Node.js, ReactJS, Angular and HTML5.
Experience with frameworks/tools such as Spring Boot, Camunda, Drools, Maven and Gradle.
Understanding of mobile network architecture and protocols.
Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Telecommunications.
