Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities

Role purpose:

To support the delivery of M‑Pesa’s strategic payment collection projects in the transportation sector, Education Sector, Agriculture Sector, Health Sector and Logistic Sector by assisting in planning, coordination, and execution activities. The Specialist ensures tasks are completed on time, within budget, and to defined scope and quality standards under the guidance of the Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope, objectives, governance, and acceptance criteria in alignment with business goals.
  • Contribute to detailed project plans, resource tracking, and budget monitoring.
  • Support communication between M‑Pesa, clients, and partners, ensuring updates and documentation are shared.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth execution of assigned tasks.
  • Monitor project activities, escalate risks/issues, and propose improvements.
  • Ensure deliverables meet defined standards and compliance requirements.

Key Qualification, Core competencies, Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, Finance, IT, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience managing large-scale public service or revenue collection projects.
  • Experience in transportation sector (air, water, rail, buses, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and supporting contract administration.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with payment systems and automated fare collection.
  • Analytical mindset with good problem‑solving and communication abilities.
