What you’ll do

Role Purpose
To plan, design, deploy, optimise and support Vodacom Tanzania’s fixed network infrastructure and connectivity solutions, including FTTH, FTTx, FWA, enterprise connectivity, internet and wholesale transport services. The role ensures secure, scalable and cost-effective solutions that enhance customer experience, enable business growth and meet Vodafone Group and regulatory standards.

 

Key Responsibilities
•Plan, design, optimise and govern fixed access solutions, including FTTH, FTTx, FWA, point-to-point fibre and microwave networks.
•Lead end-to-end network deployment and service fulfilment, including feasibility studies, technical surveys, contractor supervision and service readiness.
•Ensure timely, SLA-compliant service activation, rapid issue resolution and continuous improvement of service quality and customer experience.
•Provide technical input into business cases, CAPEX and OPEX plans, RFPs, RFQs, scopes of work and vendor evaluations.
•Collaborate with commercial, technology, operations, supply chain, project teams and external partners to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
•Monitor service, billing and operational performance; conduct reconciliations and prepare reports to support revenue assurance and decision-making.

 

Who you are

Key Competencies, Knowledge and Skills
•Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, stakeholder management and teamwork skills.
•Customer-focused, results-oriented and accountable, with strong planning, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•Commercial awareness, innovation mindset, agile ways of working and data-driven decision-making.
•Strong knowledge of FTTH, FTTx, GPON/XGS-PON, OLT, ONT, BNG, AAA, ACS and service provisioning platforms.
•Knowledge of fibre optics, IP networking, Ethernet, IP/MPLS, microwave and optical transport networks.
•Understanding of SD-WAN, NFV, cloud technologies, network monitoring, capacity planning and technical documentation.
•Ability to manage vendors, contractors and multi-vendor telecommunications environments.

 

Qualifications and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, or a related discipline.
•Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in the ICT industry, with proven expertise in fixed network planning and design, service delivery and telecommunications infrastructure projects.
•Hands-on experience in FTTH, GPON/XGS-PON and fibre access network planning, design, deployment and optimisation.
•Practical experience with transport networks, IP/MPLS, fixed broadband, service assurance and customer service delivery.
•Experience preparing technical specifications, business cases, RFPs, RFQs and scopes of work, and working with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
•ITIL Foundation certification or an equivalent qualification.
