Role Purpose:

Responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art reusable models, leveraging Big Data and driving scalability, revenues and cost efficiencies throughout Vodafone Ireland.

Essence of Role – Key Accountabilities:

The Senior Data Scientist will work with a local and global community of colleagues across AI, technology and customer functions and will be a contributor to the wider community, supporting the enablement of Vodafone’s Big Data capability.

Provides technical data science expertise to the local market & Customer Value Management (CVM) Team to lead & drive Big Data modelling & in-depth profiling of customers to reduce churn and optimise customer experience & drive commercial value. Engages with stakeholders across the business to advise and provide solutions. Communicates clearly to colleagues the value of Data analytics to the local market, being seen as the local technical expert.

Expert in analysing large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets with a variety of tools. Accomplished in the use of SQL & statistical analysis environments such as R. Experience with BI tools such as Tableau and Microstrategy. Familiar with Python, Java and C/C++ 

We Are Looking For You, If You Have:

Essential
Degree or postgraduate qualification in a numerate discipline such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics
At least 4 years of relevant work experience (e.g., as a data scientist) or equivalent. 
Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Python), database languages (e.g., SQL) and data analysis statistical methods (modeling, testing, and inference).
Understanding and hands-on experience in Telco related use cases (e.g. churn reduction, personalisation, network optimisation, customer satisfaction, etc) (preferred)
Business acumen and understanding key value levers within the business that can be targeted by analytics
Ability to work across the business in a coherent and cross-functional manner
Strong communication skills with prior experience communicating results across the company
Experience designing and building statistical forecasting & machine learning models.
Excellent customer service and team collaboration skills.

 

Desirable
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
Experience in developing models and algorithms from large volumes of structured and/or unstructured data 
Proven demonstration of value from advanced machine learning models across multiple bus. lines
Statistical modelling expertise, including deep learning and reinforcement learning
Experience in the development of Retention and/or Recommender Systems (preferred)
Successful experience working in cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, and technology professionals  
Strong commercial mindset and proven ability of visualising and communicating data 
Experience with telco data (preferred)
Experience working on the Cloud (Google Cloud)
Identifying opps to make a commercial difference
Translates complex datasets into strategic insights
