About this Role
What you will do
- Participate in development and implementation activities for software and database solutions, ensuring alignment with business and customer requirements.
- Assist throughout the full lifecycle of new IT projects, including requirement definition, planning, analysis, estimation, prioritisation, implementation, and testing.
- Create or update simple scripts or programmes for databases (e.g., PL/SQL, T-SQL, Perl, Shell) to support business needs and operational tasks.
- Support database improvement initiatives by contributing to minor configuration updates.
- Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing service availability and reducing downtime.
- Conduct proactive maintenance tasks such as reviewing system alerts and notifications.
- Monitor database alerts and escalate issues to senior colleagues when necessary.
Who you are
- You demonstrate a basic understanding of IT infrastructure, software, and networking concepts.
- You can follow structured documentation and instructions accurately.
- You have a strong willingness to develop problem‑solving, analytical, and time‑management skills.
- You bring an organised approach to prioritising simple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Tou collaborate effectively with others, including distributed or remote teams.
- You have a friendly, service‑oriented approach when engaging with stakeholders.
- You have good written and spoken English skills.
You bring basic technical knowledge, including:
- introductory-level database administration and programming (Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Sybase ASE/IQ, open‑source databases);
- basic programming in PL/SQL and UNIX/Linux shell scripting;
- foundational understanding of the IT Services industry;
- minimal knowledge of IT Service Management concepts such as ISO20000;
- introductory awareness of SOX principles;
- basic knowledge of general security principles.
