 We are looking for a Solution Designer / Architect

The Solution Designer is responsible for designing and leading the implementation of a solution and the application architecture for a particular platform / business capability / user journey, according to the overall digital vision and target architecture. 

The Solution Designer conducts technical analysis enabling the translation of the vision and the creation of a holistic solution design of future capabilities and features, including external dependencies, cross-domain APIs, and technical enablers / stories.

Typically reports to the Chapter Lead.

Job Responsibility


Your Place in the team


•    Reviews the target architecture vision and roadmap, evaluating and prioritizing roadmap items, and translating them into designs, change and non-functional requirements;
•    Designs end-to-end solutions and cross domain integration and APIs;
•    Facilitates solution compliance to security, privacy, and regulatory needs;
•    Strong Understands / uses RESTful APIs and JSON;
•    Defines non-functional, operational, security and quality requirements for solutions;
•    Estimates user and technical stories to help inform and prioritize backlog;
•    Ensures that all relevant technical domains are involved during the definition and impact of the solution and their supports teams with development, quality assurance and operations activities during the roll out phase;
•    Defines technical stories to enable business capabilities, fostering re-use of existing components, and accepts technical features following demos;
•    Collaborates with and supports engineering and delivery teams to ensure the development of technical stories are aligned to defined architecture paradigms, principles, and patterns.
•    Provides guidance to the Product Owner on back-log prioritisation by assessing complexity;
•    Provides input and support to release planning;
•    Advocates adoption of new technologies into solutions.
•    Report all suspected security and/or policy breaches, potential security risks to VF TR Corporate Security

Relevant qualifications/Education as defined by local market.

•    Cloud: Can design, deliver, operate and optimize XaaS capabilities to meet business requirements, as well as manage EDGE and integrated hybrid architectures, ensuring alignment with public cloud services, technologies, and innovative capabilities.
•    Agile: Understands agile methodologies (e.g. Kanban, Lean, Scrum, Design Thinking) and apply agile ways of working. Is an Agile Leader and role model of the agile mind-set and principles.
•    Architecture & Design: Defining and eliciting User/Customer needs and translating them in solution design, aligned to business strategic objectives and constraints. Demonstrating a clear understanding of disruptive technologies, by tracking, scouting and experimenting. Define current and future strategies and evolution roadmap.
•    CI / CD: Ability to automate software delivery by setting up a CI/CD Pipeline in order to produce valuable software in short cycles while ensuring that the software can be reliably released at any time.
•    Microservices & APIs: The ability to design, build, and maintain applications using loosely coupled, independently deployable, and independently scalable application components based on SOA and domain-driven design, identifying appropriate interaction frameworks that enable scalability and agility. Designing/implementing web scale cloud solutions with a micro-services architecture and utilising containers.
•    Security: Manages information security related activities (including budgeting, planning, implementation, testing, reporting) and recommending appropriate remediation measures to ensure the integrity and continuity of systems, services and information. Incorporates secure by design principles when designing, building, testing solutions, products and services.
•    AI – Deep & Machine Learning: Can design, implement, operate, and optimize technologies that emulate or augment human roles in customer interactions, employing natural language processing, machine learning, deep neural networks and other capabilities to optimize performance and derive actionable insight generating Prescriptive Action.
