Role Purpose

The Compliance manager is a middle manager position responsible for overseeing the Head of Compliance and Senior Management in conducting compliance control activities regarding relevant regulatory requirements, laws, internal policies, the code of conduct, and best practices. This role is also in charge of adversary to the relevant M-Pesa team on all matters relating to regulatory requirements and best practice; compliance training and reporting to relevant stakeholders.

This role ensures that VODACASH comply with all local requirements in order to prevent any instances of non-compliance, fines or breaches which the institutions could face as well as reputational damage.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership [max 5]

 

  • People: Support and maintain strong team dynamics and embed a culture of compliance. Track team deliverables are meet in accordance with set objectives and targets
  • Advisory: Build Regulatory universe, providing inputs to business units and ensuring controls are in line with regulatory requirement. Responsible for completion and maintenance of the register (RU)
  • CRMP - Ensure, in consultation with the embedded business risk management function the development and completion of Business Area specific CRMPs.
  • Analyse and Identify compliance risks; processes and controls and advise senior management & relevant committees
  • Reputational risks: Safeguards VODACASH reputation by ensuring the reputational risks policies and procedures are following Vodacom group standard
  • Monitoring: develop and conduct monitoring in accordance with plan approved by the Board. Assist with closure of Gaps identified during the CRMP exercise as well the monitoring reviews
  • Policies and Manuals: review, maintenance and localization of all compliance policies and procedures.
  • Advocacy: remain aware of regulatory & legislative developments, and practices of regulatory authorities, which are relevant to Vodacash. Attend and lobby with BCC, government institutions and policy makers on new matters impacting Vodacash

Must have technical / professional qualifications

 

  • Degree in Law and other similar qualification
  • Minimum experience of 4 years in executing similar function
