- Continue accelerating and enhancing our Platform as a Service for Vodafone customers on footprint.
- Introduce service propositions in markets beyond Vodafone's current footprint (US and France).
- Address long tail lower volume segment through digital self-service platform globally.
We seek an Automation & DevOps Engineer to be focused on the CI&CD & Automation journey for our IoT Platform Engineering team. This role reports to the IoT DevOps Team Lead
What you’ll do
- Contribute for the evolution of the CI/CD strategy for the IoT Platform, ensuring performance, reliability, scalability, and high quality enginnering standards;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Development, Operations, and Security—to define and implement robust CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks;
- Architect and evolve the CI/CD toolchain, contributing for strategic direction, implementation and adoption across teams;
- Champion a DevOps culture by promoting feedback loops, continuous improvement, and automation-first practices across the engineering lifecycle;
- Design, implement, and maintain standardized CI/CD pipelines that support consistent build, test, release, and deployment processes;
- Embed DevSecOps principles into CI/CD workflows to enhance security without compromising delivery speed or quality;
- Ensure automation processes are observable and monitoring, as well as following the Vodafone security and compliance standards;
- Improve the Connectivity service delivered to Vodafone IoT customers;
- Assure the proper dimensioning for the owned IoT platforms, guaranteeing capacity is used efficiently;
- Guarantee owned IoT Connectivity platforms can cope with new products being delivered to IoT customers;
- Manage stakeholders and vendors as required for the technical delivery and report project progress & activities.
Who you are
- Educated to BSc degree level in Software Engineering or related discipline with Computer Science;
- Proven hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in complex environments, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc;
- Strong grasp of DevOps principles and best practices, with the ability to work across development and operations functions;
- Hands-on experience in CI/CD practices and tooling, with a proven ability to maintain, evolve, and scale the CI/CD toolchain to meet growing platform needs;
- Understanding of security principles, practices and standards and how they translate into real-world technical solutions;
- Able to work well within a multinational, multicultural environment;
- Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies, especially SAFe, desirable;
- Experience in complex international programmes: the role holder will need to be able to work laterally with technical (engineering and operations) and business functions (line of business, finance) within Vodafone;
- Solid understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD best practices, and Agile methodologies, with a track record of fostering automation-first and feedback-driven cultures;
- Proven experience with git and version control workflows;
- Comfortable working in containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment and lifecycle management;
- Comfortable with scripting languages such as bash, python or groovy;
- Industry experience working with Linux-based systems and deploying solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms;
- Valued experience with integration with other DevOps stack tools;
- Good understanding of information security;
- Consultative, customer-focused design mind-set;
- Strong presentation and communication skills, to technical, business and (senior) management audience;
- Strong work planning- and time management skills;
- Willing to learn and a strong sense of ownsership and autonomy;
- Fluency in English.
