Cyber Defence Operations (CDO) is Vodafone Group’s Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, accountable for protecting Vodafone, its customers and its services against global cyber risk.
The Analytics Specialist is responsible for developing cross-Cyber Defence analytics and insight products that provide a holistic, asset-centric view of Vodafone’s security, operational and risk posture.
The role works across CTU, CSOC, CDIR and Security Testing & Exposure Management to aggregate, model and interpret data from multiple platforms, helping identify systemic patterns, control weaknesses, operational trends and emerging risks.
The role translates complex technical and operational data into trusted, reusable analytics that support incident response, threat-led defence, vulnerability prioritisation, exposure reduction, control improvement and leadership decision-making.
What you’ll do
- Define and own cross-Cyber Defence analytics use cases that provide trend-based and asset-centric insight across threat, monitoring, incident response, vulnerability and exposure management domains;
- Design and maintain end-to-end analytics pipelines, from data sourcing and modelling through to dashboards, insights and executive-ready outputs;
- Aggregate and normalise data from multiple platforms including Elastic data lakes, Dynatrace, Power BI, cloud platforms and cyber security tooling, ensuring consistency, quality and reusability;
- Develop asset-centric views that correlate telemetry across infrastructure, applications, services, incidents, vulnerabilities and security controls to support a joined-up understanding of risk and performance;
- Produce long-term trend analysis, behavioural baselining and forecasting to identify emerging risks, control degradation, systemic issues and opportunities for improvement;
- Build and maintain dashboards and analytical products that translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insight for technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Work across CTU, CSOC, Incident Management, STEM, and wider Technology, Network and Platform teams to shape analytics requirements, define success measures and ensure outputs align to real operational and strategic questions.
- Apply analytical and statistical techniques such as time-series analysis, clustering and regression to extract meaning from large, high-volume datasets;
- Ensure analytics outputs are explainable, repeatable and trusted, with clear documentation, assumptions and data lineage;
- Contribute analytical insight to strategic planning, operational reviews, risk discussions, investment decisions and control improvement initiatives across Vodafone;
- Support the evolution of Cyber Defence analytics capabilities, including improved data models, shared metrics, and more effective use of security, operational and exposure data;
- Contribute to cyber reporting, dashboards and briefings, ensuring accurate, timely and data-driven insights are shared with the right stakeholders.
Who you are
- Demonstrable experience (typically 3–5 years) in data analytics, business intelligence, data science or a related analytical role;
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience;
- Working towards, or willingness to obtain, relevant certifications such as Power BI Data Analyst, Azure Data Fundamentals, or data analytics / data science certifications is desirable;
- Strong experience in data analytics, business intelligence or data science, ideally within a cyber, technology or risk environment;
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate broad operational questions into scalable data models, metrics and visualisations;
- Experience working with enterprise analytics and observability platforms such as Power BI, Elastic, Dynatrace, Splunk or similar;
- Proven ability to work across large and complex datasets to identify trends, correlations, anomalies and emerging risks;
- Comfortable engaging with stakeholders across cyber security, technology and leadership to understand problems and frame useful analytical questions;
- Able to communicate insights clearly through visuals, storytelling and written narrative, tailored to different audiences;
- Advanced capability in Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, visualisation and dashboard design;
- Working knowledge of SQL and/or KQL for querying large-scale analytical datasets;
- Experience using Python or similar languages for data preparation, analysis and statistical modelling is desirable;
- Understanding of time-series analysis, trend analysis, statistical baselining and forecasting techniques;
- Familiarity with data pipelines, data quality management and schema harmonisation across multiple data sources;
- Practical understanding of cyber risk concepts across security monitoring, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management and exposure management;
- Ability to balance analytical rigour with pragmatism, delivering outputs that are useful, trusted and timely;
- Experience integrating diverse data sources such as cloud platforms, endpoint telemetry, network/security tooling, threat intelligence feeds, vulnerability data and external exposure data;
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and support both operational and leadership decision-making;
- Fluency in English.
