We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to join our engineering team and drive the design,implementation, and operation of Vodafone Portugal's cloud platforms and infrastructure. This role isresponsible for building secure, scalable, resilient, and automated cloud environments that enable thedelivery of modern digital services.The Senior Cloud Engineer will work closely with Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Solution Architects,Security teams, and Platform teams to implement cloud-native solutions, improve operational excellence,and accelerate software delivery through automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The role combineshands-on engineering with technical leadership, promoting cloud best practices, platform reliability, andcontinuous improvement across the engineering organization.

What you’ll do

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure;
  • Build and maintain cloud platforms supporting enterprise applications and microservices;
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using industry-standard automation tools;
  • Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and automated softwaredelivery;
  • Manage container platforms and Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters;
  • Implement cloud security best practices, identity management, networking, and compliancecontrols;
  • Ensure platform reliability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions;
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational processes;
  • Support application teams in adopting cloud-native architectures and DevOps practices;
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, platform, and deployment issues across development and productionenvironments;
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization, performance, availability, and operational costs;
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to define cloud reference architectures andtechnical standards;
  • Contribute to disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and resilience strategies;
  • Promote engineering excellence through documentation, knowledge sharing, mentoring, andcontinuous improvement initiatives.

Who you are

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field;
  • Extensive experience designing and operating enterprise cloud environments;
  • Strong experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform);
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures and distributed systems;
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies;
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, and container orchestration;
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar;
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef;
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar);
  • Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk,Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar);
  • Understanding of networking concepts including DNS, Load Balancers, Firewalls, VPNs, VPCs, andService Mesh technologies;
  • Knowledge of cloud security principles, IAM, secrets management, encryption, and complianceframeworks;
  • Experience supporting microservices architectures and API-based platforms;
  • Familiarity with Git, version control strategies, and collaborative development workflows;
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments;
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Ability to work across multiple technical domains and cross-functional teams;
  • Strong ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset;
  • Ability to mentor engineers and drive adoption of cloud engineering best practices;
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese.
