Lead Architect TV Backend
What you’ll do

It often uses a combination of DVB-C, IPTV, and OTT technologies to provide a reliable and robust service.
We are seeking a seasoned Lead Architect to join our Vodafone TV team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in TV backend architecture, particularly in cloud and serverless environments. This role involves designing and overseeing the backend systems that power Vodafone TV, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. The Lead Architect will also play a key role in guiding the technical direction, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and managing a talented group of architects. Your responsabilities will be:
- Architectural Leadership: Develop and maintain the architecture for Vodafone TV's backend systems, focusing on high performance, scalability, and reliability;
- Cloud & Serverless Solutions: Architect and implement cloud-based solutions using AWS and other platforms, emphasizing serverless technologies and microservices;
- API Design & Development: Lead the design and development of secure, efficient, and scalable APIs for internal and external use;
- Team Leadership & Management: Manage and mentor a team of backend and cloud architects, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement;
- Strategic Technical Planning: Translate Vodafone TV's business goals into actionable technical strategies, ensuring alignment across all technical initiatives;
- Agile & SAFe Methodologies: Implement Agile and SAFe frameworks within the development team, promoting adaptive planning and iterative development;
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, video and client architects, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated and cohesive solutions;
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, driving continuous improvement in our technology stack and development processes.
Who you are
- Bachelor’s or master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or architectural role, preferably within the TV or streaming industry;
- Cloud Expertise: Strong expertise in AWS and other cloud platforms, with practical experience in serverless architectures and cloud-native services;
- Microservices & API Design: In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture and experience designing scalable APIs;
- TV Platform Experience: Familiarity with the specific challenges and requirements of developing backend systems for TV platforms;
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading and managing technical teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Agile & SAFe Knowledge: Practical experience with Agile and SAFe methodologies, capable of driving these frameworks within a team;
- Analytical & Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach to challenges;
- Portuguese/English Language proficiency.
