Within Vodafone Group Technology, Fintech & Product Enablement has the responsibility to design, develop, deploy and operate strategic consumer services. We are building a new global Device Lifecycle (DLS) platform and have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Product Owner to join our new team. The DLS platform allows customers to trade-in old devices in return for discounts on new technology. 

The Technical Product Owner works closely with Commercial Product Managers to drive the vision and execution of the product delivery and align the roadmap and priorities for new product features, enhancements, and improvements.

You will need a strong understanding of the technology and business objectives to allow effective technical communication with the design, delivery, and development teams, also to commercial stakeholders and nearshore teams. You will also need to effectively communicate, at a suitable level to non-technical stakeholders outside of technology group. 
 

What you’ll do

  • Drive creation and delivery of the technical product roadmap in alignment with commercial priorities whilst managing technical feasibility and system impact.
  • Prioritising the delivery of value while enabling growth of the technical platforms
  • Work with Release Train Engineer (RTE) to deliver products across multiple teams
  • Communication and alignment with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Drive key business decisions on build-or-buy, vendor selection, delivery and operational model for the new product or service.
  • Be the key point of knowledge for the delivery team’s activities
  • Ownership of the DLS Platform and capabilities roadmap for delivery team / service: Understand business needs and steer the technical roadmap and delivery teams. 
  • Technical delivery of roadmap items in alignment with wider team - identify, manage, and resolve dependencies and risks. 
  • Ownership of Service success through the lifecycle – Define, build, monitor and proactively act upon performance indicators which reflect DLS Platform success
  • Cross-team alignment on technical feasibility, impact and design, ensuring effective knowledge transfer between teams.
  • Serve as trusted technology subject matter expert for DLS team

Who you are

  • Computer science qualification or equivalent
  • Agile Product Owner certification
  • Deep understanding of AWS/Cloud based architectures and assets, ideally certified
  • Experience with IT concepts including REST, Cloud, microservices, APIs
  • Fluent in English (written & oral)
  • Experience in delivering consumer web / technology products as Product Owner within an Agile environment.  
  • Deep knowledge of software development projects and delivery within Agile/SAFe environment
  • Strong technical background, ideally with previous software development experience in a commercial environment
  • Strong communication skills, with experience interacting with stakeholders 
  • Experienced working in distributed teams
