What you’ll do
Public Sector Business Development Managers (PS-BDM) play a crucial role in expanding Vodafone UK's market share.
Typically, the PS-BDM role has a territory of public sector prospects between 100-250 organisations, these are usually within in the 750+ employee customer size, but this can vary depending on the territory being covered. A key element of the role is to seek new organisations and vendor relationships to grow your own prospect base further, thus expanding Vodafone’s reach further into the market.
The role involves winning 100% new logo business and developing high-potential clients, contributing to Enterprise growth. You will be central in achieving a step change in delivering continued growth for Vodafone business within the public sector. You will work with management and director/board level customers on how they communicate and support their digital transformation goals, ultimately driving positive outcomes for UK public sector organisations and the communities they serve Adoption and implementation of the Vodafone Way of Selling, will be critical to success.
PS-BDM will strategically engage new logo public sector organisations, identifying business challenges and transformational opportunities within these prospect customers, leveraging Vodafone's leading Business portfolio—including Mobility, Connectivity, Cloud, Hosting, Security, Unified Communications, and IoT.
Our portfolio helps organisations to achieve their goals of improving public sector services and outcomes.
In turn, this grows our business revenues via these organisations joining Vodafone as new customers.
The role will also focus on areas of public spending available to drive innovation throughout the UK, examples of this are MPN’s, Freeports, 5G network slicing, connected sensors, Smart City technology and Connected Vehicles. Key accountabilities include:
- Pro-active self-generation of new business opportunity, achieving our sales charter KPI’s. Generating the required amount of activity, customer engagement and pipeline to achieve 3x+ target cover or appropriate to your own conversion ratio
- Judgement of effective time management and investment of available hours per prospect, to ensure prospect base coverage, addressable market penetration and successful conversion.
- Achieve customer satisfaction measures/metrics to drive positive customer experience.
- Delivery mth, qtr, annual Annual Order Value (AOV) sales target(s) specific to PS-BDM role.
- Some virtual team management, with regard to complex / multi product bids. Including working with colleagues who manage “low share pursuit” accounts where there could be considerable further opportunity for Vodafone.
Who you are
- Strong sales direct experience (ideally minimum of 3+ years), ideally into the Public Sector within technology, consultancy or professional services sectors as an individual contributor. Knowledge and experience of public sector frameworks is desired.
- Build ROI and business cases through a great understanding of public sector objectives and challenges.
- Proven track record of delivering sales targets. Significant experience in presenting to C-Level stakeholders, via F2F and various communication platforms.
- Technically aware, able to understand complex technical concepts and solutions.
- Proven track record in RFI/RFP/contract skills (understanding and writing) along with negotiation competency to drive win/win outcomes.
- Ability to demonstrate selling to complex customer buying centres with multiple stakeholders and effective internal stakeholder management.
- IT literate and with experience of using Sales Tools e.g. CRM systems, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, High Spot.
