What you’ll do
The Pre-Sales Solution Consultant’s primary role will be to engage across a broad range of contact points within a customer organisation, understand the business goals and objectives of the organisation, and work with the customer and account team to identify, qualify and propose solutions aligned to opportunities where capability within the Vodafone portfolio could support the customer in achieving these goals and objectives. Collaborating with global clients who are UK-centric as part of the Pre-Sales organisation in Vodafone UK, the Pre-Sales Solution Consultant will typically own opportunities worth up to £100M TCV. The nature, criticality, and scale of some of these opportunities allows our Pre-Sales Solution Consultants to influence and “change the way Britain works.”
Our Pre-Sales Solution Consultants support both private sector and public sector clients and are therefore expected to understand the procurement frameworks and processes associated with both. The Pre-Sales Solution Consultant is accountable, alongside the account team, for demand generation activities i.e. pro-actively creating or identifying new opportunities to sell Vodafone solutions and will also respond to requests for new technology or technology-derived solutions from the customer. This is a customer-facing role.
The Pre-Sales Solution Consultant will often work in cross-functional and virtual teams of design specialists, Subject Matter Experts including third parties and partners, designing, and delivering innovative integrated communications solutions. The Pre-Sales Solution Consultant will lead the requirements capture and management process ensuring that solutions fulfil client’s business requirements and can be readily deployed and operated in a profitable manner. The Pre-Sales Solution Consultant will also be expected to ‘charge for value’ by demonstrating professionalism, skill and expertise that adds value to the customer’s business and improves customer satisfaction. Given their value to the team the Pre-Sales Solution Consultant should ensure their time is spent appropriately.
Who you are
As a Pre-Sales Solution Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, commercially viable solutions that meet both client expectations and internal standards. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and documenting the proposed solutions, ensuring they are aligned with customer requirements and approved by all stakeholders.
You will act as the primary owner of the solution during the bid phase, accountable for capturing and articulating client needs, selecting appropriate technologies, and producing the initial solution documentation that forms the basis of the customer contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Consulting
- Lead the requirements gathering process, acting as the single point of contact for both internal teams and customers
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements and solution designs
- Develop solution architectures from conceptual through to physical design stages, ensuring alignment with customer goals and Vodafone’s strategic direction
- Evaluate technology options and identify optimal solutions that address customer challenges
- Represent the Business Pre-Sales team in both internal and external engagements, upholding standards of professionalism and best practice
- Ensure compliance with local Pre-Sales processes and governance
Sales Support
- Provide technical expertise during bid qualification and commercial discussions
- Deliver accurate cost estimates for Finance approval, maintaining strong relationships with vendors to validate configurations and pricing
- Contribute the technical components of bid documentation and support the sales team in customer engagements
- Present technical solutions to clients at a peer level, ensuring clarity and confidence in the proposed approach
Solution Design
- Capture and validate customer requirements, leveraging additional resources as needed
- Translate customer needs into Vodafone’s product and service language, producing design documentation that meets internal and account-specific standards
- Collaborate with Product Management and subject matter experts to ensure solution feasibility and completeness
- Communicate the solution design to Service and Project Management teams, ensuring ease of deployment and ongoing manageability
- Incorporate monitoring, reporting, and capacity planning into all designs
- Secure internal and customer sign-off for all technical designs
- Manage technical relationships with third-party vendors and partners
- Engage Delivery teams when necessary to ensure smooth project handover and customer satisfaction
