What you’ll do

Role Profile

The Pre-Sales Principal Consultant’s primary role will be to assist Sales teams in creating and realising pipelined opportunities across our customer base, both locally and internationally. This is a client-facing role that supports the sales activities (RFx, bid responses etc) of the Vodafone UK Business sales channels covering both the public and private sectors. They support and provide solution ownership’ on the entire Vodafone product portfolio, from connectivity to contact centres as well as hosting and cloud services. Our Principal Consultants typically lead the largest, most-complex opportunities with total contract values normally between £10M and £100M.


Using our design methodology, the Principal Consultant will lead cross-functional and virtual teams of design specialists, including third parties and partners, designing, and delivering the largest, most complex communications solutions. The Principal Consultant will lead the requirements capture and management process ensuring that solutions fulfil client’s business requirements and can be readily deployed and operated in a profitable manner.


The Principal Consultant will also be expected to ‘charge for value’ by demonstrating professionalism, skill and expertise that adds value to the customer’s business and improves customer satisfaction. Given their position and value to the team the Principal Consultant should ensure their time is spent appropriately on activities befitting of a consultant.


This role represents a senior consulting position with the current Business Pre-Sales job family, therefore, the Principal Consultant should be a role model willing to coach/mentor and develop other members of the team, as well as manage their own professional development.


Key Accountabilities
 

  • Preparation of customer quotes
  • Responsible for translation of customer requirements into Vodafone products and the provision any associated quotes and design information.
  • Responsible for the capture of all associated costs, and technical elements required for each quote.
  • Responsible for meeting all associated customer quote Service Level Agreements.
  • Responsible for the creation of clear and unambiguous quotes to ensure all have the appropriate term, recurring and non-recurring elements.
  • Responsible for managing the daily workload, using the appropriate tools to allocate and respond to quotes.

Support of complex bids and solutions
 

  • Responsible for small less complex work packages as part of an overall solution.
  • Responsible for delivering clear communications and outputs to aid the solution owner in the delivery of the overall solution.
  • Responsible for ensuring all solutions adhere to the Vodafone Way of Design methodology.
  • Responsible for the communication of all associated risks and impacts to the solution owner.
  • Responsible for working with other areas such as product or other subject matter experts to get more detail and support when required.



Additional supporting roles
 

  • Responding to any “Phone a Friend” queries from the sales or service communities.
  • Participation in delivery governance process when required.
  • Work with supporting teams to guide where improvements to processes and tools can be made




Who you are

Our Pre-Sales Principal Consultants have a deep understanding of IT Telecoms industry trends and drivers, along with extensive knowledge of Vodafone Business products and services. They excel in virtual team environments and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling them to present solutions clearly and concisely.


With experience in sales or customer-facing roles within the Technology/Telco sector, they bring strong personal impact, self-discipline, and drive. They are adaptable, innovative problem-solvers with excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, and a keen eye for detail. They are also team players who support and collaborate effectively with others.


Technically, they must be proficient in Teams, Office 365, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with key technologies such as WAN, LAN, UC, IoT, Cloud, and Security, as well as knowledge of the ITIL framework and public sector frameworks, is desirable.
