What you’ll do

Reporting to the Group Lead Competition Counsel who is leading on the Commitments implementation and compliance, who in turn reports to the Group Legal Director, Competition & Anti Financial Crime, the successful candidate would have day to day responsibility for managing the Commitments implementation and compliance process. 
Activities in scope of the Commitments mainly pertain to Vodafone Germany, Group Technology and Group Legal Business Integrity. The position entails responsibility, with other members of the Competition Law team, for driving the implementation of the Commitments compliance programme across the relevant parts of Vodafone Germany and the Vodafone Group.  The position also entails engagement with and management of external-stakeholders, including engaging with the European Commission and the Monitoring Trustee.

 

The successful candidate will manage the process of the programme, including: assisting with developing and managing the work plans for the Commitments; managing and driving the compliance activities in Vodafone Germany and the relevant parts of Vodafone Group; reviewing and advising on the legalities of information exchange and compliant submission of final monthly and quarterly reports to the Montoring Trustee prepared with Vodafone Germany, Group; and day-to-day liaison with the Monitoring Trustee, Vodafone Germany and other Group functions/entities.

In addition, the successful candidate will assist the Group Competition law team in advising Vodafone Group and its operating companies on a range of competition law matters. 

 

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Implementing and maintaining an effective competition law Commitments  compliance programme, including: 
  • Maintaining and developing Commitments compliance programme – Ensure the Commitments compliance programme addresses key competition law risks and assist with preparing action/work plans to implement each element of the programme.
  • Monitoring and reviewing – manage the monthly reporting obligations to ensure compliance with commitments. Liaise with colleagues in Germany and Group functions to ensure that there is a consistent and co-ordinated approach to implementing the commitments and assessing compliance.
  • Review and advise on information exchange and compliant submission of monthly/quarterly reports prepared by/with relevant stakeholders:
  • Training and awareness – Conduct training needs analysis to identify higher risk groups of employees. With the assistance of the rest of the Competition Law team and Vodafone
  • Germany, design and ensure delivery of training programmes to relevant groups of employees.
  • Compliance and Investigations - Assist the Competition Law team in managing compliance and responding to competition law investigations, including project management of large investigations and legal cases, conducting internal investigations, gathering information from the business, drafting submissions to competition authorities
  • Assisting the Group Competition law team in advising Vodafone Group and its operating companies on a range of competition law matters including merger control, antitrust investigations, and agreements

Who you are

  • Educated to degree level, preferably law or post graduate diploma legal qualification .
  • 2+ years experience in competition law or in a relevant area of compliance. 
  • Strong IT and data presentation skills including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Technical knowledge: Familiarity with competition law, including merger control or antitrust remedies, and compliance best practices . Understanding of managing governance and control systems .
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills. Additional German language skills an advantage.  Strong attention to detail. Cross-cultural communication experience is desirable. 
  • Risk management: Experience in compliance and risk assessment and practices for monitoring and managing risk.
  • Organisational skills: Proven excellent organisational and forward planning skills. Ability to prioritise workload and manage deadlines. 
  • Pro-active and motivated: Reliable, self-motivated and proactive.
