What you’ll do

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Political Narratives Lead to lead our company’s political positioning.

This position of a  political spin doctor requires expertise in crafting compelling political and policy-related narratives, influencing political and public opinion, that align with our corporate objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of political landscapes, public affairs, and media dynamics to shape discourse, influence stakeholders, and enhance our corporate positioning.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in political communications, policy analysis, and storytelling, with the ability to craft persuasive messages that resonate with policymakers, media, and the public. You will play a pivotal role in shaping perception about the company among political decision makers that advance the company’s interests in complex political and regulatory landscapes.

 

  • Craft and refine political and policy-oriented narratives that advance the company’s interests, ensuring alignment with broader corporate messaging.
  • Develop and implement political messaging strategies that effectively position the company’s priorities with political, media, and public audiences.
  • Monitor political trends, policy changes, and public sentiment to anticipate challenges and opportunities, integrating insights into narrative strategies.
  • Craft persuasive speeches, white papers, and reports that effectively communicate our positions on key policy issues.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on political issues, ensuring consistent alignment with company values.
  • Support rapid response efforts in political or policy-related crises, ensuring consistent and strategic messaging.
  • Work closely with public affairs, policy and communications teams of Vodafone to create messaging strategies for policymakers, regulators, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with communications team to place narratives in mainstream and niche political media outlets, leveraging relationships with journalists and thought leaders.
  • Align with corporate strategy, marketing, and other teams to ensure coherence in messaging and policy positions.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, Journalism, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in political communications, public affairs, government relations, or journalism, preferably in a corporate, agency, or governmental setting.
  • Expertise in navigating complex political landscapes and influencing decision-makers at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-stakes crises and deliver under pressure.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to distill complex issues into clear and compelling messages.
  • Deep understanding of political ecosystems, legislative processes, and media landscapes.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with digital and social media strategies for political messaging is a plus.
  • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of political and public affairs.
  • Confident communicator in writing and verbally.
  • Results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive issues.
