Software Engineering Manager

Location: (Blended home working)
Salary: Competitive + Vodafone Benefits
Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week – Mon to Fri)

Vodafone are currently in the process of decommissioning our legacy systems and using micro services architecture to create our own home -grown systems!

 

You will work as part of our four Digital tribes, where we are building new customer interactions using Java, Spring, Micro services, AWS, Docker, REST, OpenAPI and BDD via CI/CD and Agile delivery. You will also be line managing, supporting and coaching a team of engineers. You will be Influencing the direction of services, technical standards and guidelines at team and department level. As well as generating and implementing technical process improvements and holding team members accountable within their roles and empower them within your team. What will you be doing? 

 

  • You must have experience in leading, mentoring and inspiring team members to reach their individual potential, whilst supporting department objectives.
  • You will have experience with line managing teams of circa 6 Engineers (Junior, Mid, Senior level).
  • You will have a background in improving engineering quality and efficiency within the team and department (e.g. encourage pairing, code review, etc.)
  • You will have hands on design & development of digital platforms as part of a development squad using Scrum/Kanban. 

Who are we looking for?

  • You will have deep experience of Java (JEE), Java Servlets and Spring Framework
  • You will have a good background in driving the quality and performance of your micro-services.
  • You will have a strong background in designing and developing RESTful APIs within a micro-services architecture.
  • You will have great exposure in Scrum and developing through BDD/TDD, using associated tools for testing and continuous integration & deployment. 
  • You will have an ability to challenge others in doing what’s right for the business.
