What you’ll do

The Supply Chain Environmental Specialist supports the development and delivery of Vodafone’s environmental strategy across supply chain categories and markets. The role focuses on category-level climate transition planning, supplier engagement, emissions reduction, and capability building within procurement, ensuring purchased goods and services align with Vodafone’s 2030 reduction milestones and 2040 Net Zero ambition.
The role sits within Vodafone Procure & Connect (VP&C) in Luxembourg and reports into Vodafone Group’s Sustainable Business Team, which sets global sustainability strategy and partners with business units to drive delivery. This is a growing and high-impact area, offering the opportunity to work with sustainability and supply chain experts while engaging a wide range of stakeholders across markets and functions. The role requires a self-driven individual with strong communication and programme management skills, comfortable creating new ways of working.

1. Category climate transition strategies

Support the development of category-specific climate transition plans aligned to Net Zero 2040.
Conduct baseline assessments to identify emissions hotspots, risks, opportunities, and KPIs.
Embed environmental criteria into category planning to support long-term decarbonisation.

2. Procurement collaboration & decision-making support

Support the implementation of sustainable procurement processes, including environmental requirements and contract terms.
Partner with category managers to embed carbon reduction targets, environmental KPIs, and climate-aligned supplier selection.
Provide climate data, insights, and analysis to support responsible sourcing decisions.
Support ESG assessments within RFQs, guiding suppliers and integrating results into scoring models.

3. Supplier engagement & performance management

Manage supplier performance against ESG contractual commitments and KPIs.
Drive supplier alignment with Vodafone’s environmental targets, reporting, and transition pathways.
Issue and track supplier improvement plans, escalating risks where required.
Participate in supplier reviews to support credible decarbonisation and improved environmental performance.

4. Capability building for procurement teams

Deliver training, tools, and guidance to strengthen environmental capability across procurement.
Develop templates, guidance, and onboarding materials covering KPIs, carbon methodologies, and assessments.
Facilitate workshops and learning sessions to embed sustainability into BAU procurement activities.

5. Environmental data, reporting & governance

Support consolidation and validation of supplier climate data for category strategies, CSRD, and internal reporting.
Maintain category-level environmental KPIs and provide progress updates to leadership.
Provide accurate and timely supply chain environmental data to Group Finance.

Who you are

•    A bachelor’s degree 
•    Strong project management, analytical skills and comfort working with data.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including procurement and finance teams.
•    Proactive, collaborative, and detail oriented approach to problem solving and ability to work independently.
•    Foundational knowledge of procurement processes, category strategies and supplier engagement. 
•    Passion for environmental sustainability, climate transition, Scope 3 emissions, and circularity.
