Joining Vodafone IoT’s team means being part of a growing, purpose-driven organisation at the forefront of innovation. Our teams are made up of curious minds, problem-solvers, and forward-thinkers across the world who thrive in a collaborative, high-performing, inclusive environment.
Role purpose
The Customer Solutions Specialist manages bespoke customer demand into Vodafone IoT Technology, acting as the primary interface between Customer Operations, Solution Architects, Product Management and Technology delivery teams.
The role exists to ensure that customer-specific requirements are understood, shaped, assessed, prioritised and delivered in a controlled, commercially aware and technically viable way. This includes both simple bespoke configuration-led changes and more complex customer solutions requiring impact assessment, cross-domain coordination, roadmap alignment, architecture input, budget visibility and delivery governance.
You will work closely with Solution Architects to translate customer and bid requirements into clear solution scope, impact assessments, delivery options, technology requirements and implementation plans. You will ensure that demand entering Technology is sufficiently defined, aligned to existing standard capabilities where possible, and routed through the appropriate delivery path, whether simple bespoke delivery, backlog-based delivery, customer-funded change, or formal NPD / programme delivery.
The role will retain selected Product Owner responsibilities, including backlog ownership, feature and user story definition, prioritisation, acceptance criteria, dependency management and participation in PI / SI planning. However, unlike a traditional Technology Product Owner role focused primarily on a product or platform roadmap, this role is centred on managing customer-led bespoke demand and ensuring smooth execution across Technology teams.
You will also have increased delivery management responsibilities, ensuring that agreed customer solutions progress from demand intake through impact assessment, planning, delivery, testing, readiness and handover. This includes maintaining delivery visibility, managing risks and dependencies, coordinating stakeholders, supporting governance, and ensuring commitments made during bid, customer change or solution design activities are realistic and deliverable.
The role is critical to improving the handling of bespoke customer demand, reducing ambiguity between Solution Architecture and Technology delivery, increasing accountability for customer-specific outcomes, and ensuring Technology teams can respond to customer needs without undermining strategic roadmap priorities, cost control or operational stability.
What you’ll do
- Act as the front-to-Technology owner for bespoke customer demand, ensuring requests are clearly captured, assessed, prioritised and routed through the correct delivery path.
- Manage the interface between Customer Operations, Solution Architects, Product Management, Technology Product Owners, Engineering, Delivery and Operational teams to shape and assess customer requirements and delivery impacts.
- Own and coordinate the Technology impact assessment process, translating customer and solution requirements into clear delivery requirements, features, user stories and implementation tasks where required.
- Manage and prioritise the customer solutions backlog, maintaining visibility of demand status, delivery confidence, risks, dependencies, blockers and target delivery dates.
- Coordinate the delivery of bespoke customer solutions, ensuring appropriate Technology review, governance alignment, ownership, implementation readiness, testing, operational readiness and transition to support.
- Support bid, pre-sales and planning activities by providing Technology input, feasibility assessments, effort and cost estimates, delivery assumptions, risks, dependencies and capacity planning considerations.
- Work with Product Managers and Technology Product Owners to align bespoke demand with standard product and platform capabilities, identifying opportunities to standardise recurring customer requirements.
- Ensure customer solutions comply with security, data privacy, resilience and operational support requirements, while driving continuous improvement in demand management, delivery visibility, process standardisation and budget governance.
Who you are
- Experience managing customer-led technology demand, bespoke solutions, delivery coordination or product ownership in a telecoms, IoT or technology environment.
- Strong understanding of how Solution Architecture, Product Management and Technology delivery interact across complex customer solutions.
- Good working knowledge of IoT products, platforms, connectivity services, APIs, reporting, billing, service provisioning and operational support models.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into practical technology delivery requirements without needing to act as the deep technical architect.
- Strong delivery management skills, including planning, RAID management, dependency tracking, stakeholder coordination and governance reporting.
- University degree or equivalent professional experience relevant to technology, telecoms, product, delivery or customer solutions.
- Experience delivering technology change in a telecoms, IoT, enterprise technology or digital platform environment.
- Experience managing cross-functional delivery involving architecture, engineering, operations, product and customer-facing teams.
- Agile product or delivery experience, such as Scrum, SAFe, Kanban or hybrid delivery models.
- Practical experience with Jira, Confluence or equivalent demand, backlog and delivery management tools.
- Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to produce clear delivery artefacts, decision notes and stakeholder updates
