What you’ll do
As Senior Manager – IoT Cloud Engineering & Infrastructure Enablement, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Vodafone’s global IoT strategy. By connecting people, places, and things, Vodafone IoT empowers organizations to thrive in a digital world. You will lead the team responsible for building and evolving the infrastructure that underpins our world-leading IoT platform, ensuring Vodafone remains at the forefront of innovation and customer success in the IoT industry.
- Lead the engineering team responsible for designing and delivering the foundations of Vodafone’s Global IoT (GDSP) platform, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure.
- Drive the strategic evolution and operational excellence of cloud and on-premises infrastructure, enabling the Hyperconnect modernisation programme and supporting Vodafone’s global IoT leadership ambitions.
- Shape the technology roadmap and champion transformational initiatives, including agile, DevOps, and large-scale cloud adoption.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of infrastructure and database operations, focusing on reliability, scalability, security, and cost optimisation.
- Collaborate closely with product, network, and security teams, as well as external partners and suppliers, to ensure seamless alignment and delivery.
- Manage compliance, performance, and cost efficiency, acting as the main point of contact for audit and regulatory processes.
- Build, mentor, and lead a growing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Make strategic decisions on technology choices, investment, resource allocation, and vendor selection, directly impacting customer experience and business outcomes.
Who you are
- Deep expertise in IT infrastructure, with proven experience with cloud provider services (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps-tooling such as CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins, Github, Gitlab), infrastructure-as-code approaches, role-specific automation tools and associated programming languages (e.g., Terraform), orchestration tools, software development frameworks/languages, container management, on-premises and cloud connectivities, virtualisation platforms, operating systems, database technologies (e.g., Oracle, MongoDB), identity & access management systems, monitoring tools (e.g.Grafana, AWS CloudWatch), cloud networking, cloud security, analysing cloud spending and optimising resources (FinOps tooling), implementing resilience and scalable architectures, network security (e.g., VPN, firewall, intrusion detection, web server security, database security), etc..
- You bring proven experience leading large-scale infrastructure projects and geographically distributed teams.
- You demonstrate exceptional leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- You possess excellent communication and presentation abilities, confidently engaging technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders.
- You are a strategic thinker with a track record of balancing vision and operational execution.
- You hold a master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- You have 10+ years in IT infrastructure and database management (on-premises and cloud).
- You have 5+ years in leadership roles, including strategy, budgeting, and talent management.
- You excel at influencing senior management, simplifying complex technology challenges, and driving business value.
