About this Role

What you’ll do

• Own the high-level design, dimensioning guidelines and standard configurations for Service Layer Architecture across the European cluster. 
• Analyse local operating company requirements and existing architectures to develop viable, scalable and future-ready network solutions. 
• Design solutions for Broadband Network Gateways, CGNAT, AAA, IP allocation, traffic and policy management, lawful interception, and accounting data platforms.
• Apply a “design once, deploy many” approach to encourage reuse, consistency and efficient deployment across European markets. Support local operating companies in documenting consistent technical requirements aligned with architecture, budget and future technology needs.
• Produce high-quality high-level designs and ensure an effective handover to delivery teams, including support for low-level design, testing and first-office application activities. 
• Define network dimensioning rules based on resilience requirements, capacity needs and supplier capabilities.
• Collaborate with network technology and architecture teams and contribute technical requirements to supplier request-for-quotation processes. 
• Assess supplier solutions and support the qualification and selection of appropriate technologies from approved suppliers. 
• Review supplier roadmaps and influence the adoption of relevant technology enhancements, architectures and features across European markets. 
• Support the identification of network synergies, consolidation opportunities and standardisation initiatives. 
• Promote architectural harmonisation across multiple European operating companies while accommodating justified local requirements.

Who you are

• You hold a university degree in Telecommunications Engineering. 
• You have three to five years of experience in a Fixed Service Nodes Engineering role. 
• You are fluent in English and can communicate technical concepts effectively across international teams. 
• You understand fixed access, IP, Ethernet and optical services across backbone and core networks.
• You have a sound understanding of broadband, cable and IP fundamentals, including the routing protocols that support them. 
• You have proven knowledge of Broadband Network Gateways, subscriber management, PPPoE, IPoE, DHCP and AAA/RADIUS platforms. 
• You understand the broadband subscriber lifecycle, including authentication, authorisation, accounting and policy enforcement. 
• You understand wholesale and bitstream broadband architectures and associated subscriber management models. 
• You have knowledge of IP/MPLS networking principles and routing protocols, including BGP and IS-IS, as applied to broadband and Service Layer architectures. 
• You understand disaggregated BNG architectures and Control and User Plane Separation concepts. 
• You have proven knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 broadband architectures, including address assignment, prefix delegation and transition mechanisms. 
• You understand CGNAT technologies and transition approaches such as NAT444, dual stack and DS-Lite. 
• You have detailed knowledge of accounting information collection, correlation and data-retention techniques. 
• You bring analytical and problem-solving skills, customer focus, and the ability to collaborate, negotiate and present effectively. 
• Experience with software development, virtualisation platforms such as VMware or OpenStack, SDN, NFV or network security would be advantageous. 
• Relevant formal training or certification from organisations or suppliers such as FTTH Council, BBWF, Cisco, Nokia, Huawei or Juniper would be beneficial.
