What you’ll do

Role purpose:

 

To maximize the value of M-Pesa's data assets by delivering actionable insights, identifying growth opportunities, and developing AI-driven solutions that enhance decision-making, improve customer experience, and automate key business processes.


Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and opportunities for data-driven solutions that result in business growth, new revenue streams and risk mitigation;
  • Uncover insights using predictive and prescriptive analysis to enable opportunities within out large datasets;
  • Design and implement data models, experiments/hypothesis and measure impact of data-driven initiatives;
  • Formulating, suggesting, and managing data-driven projects which are geared at furthering the business's interests;
  • Monitoring the performance of Junior analysts providing them with practical guidance, as needed. 

 

What we are looking in you:
    

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field;
  • 5-7 years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Data Science, or a related discipline;
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and analytical tools such as Python or R for data analysis, statistical analysis, insight generation, and business problem-solving;
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, and data visualization solutions using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik Sense to support data-driven decision-making;
  • Strong understanding of statistical techniques, data modelling, and business performance analysis, with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable insights and recommendations, supported by effective stakeholder management and communication skills;
  • Experience within banking, fintech, telecommunications, payments, digital financial services, or risk analytics environments;
  • Strong Proficiency in SQL, Python or R for data analysis and modelling;
  • knowledge of statistics, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design;
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense or similar tools);
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including data exploration, feature engineering, hypothesis testing, predictive modelling, and business impact assessment;
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities to translate technical findings into clear business recommendations.
