Role purpose:
The Payroll Expert is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our payroll processes in collaboration with our outsourced payroll provider. He/she is responsible to manage the end-to-end payroll and social security contribution process and act as single point of reference for any HR advice in the field of payroll, contribution to social security, retirements and personal income taxes related topic.
This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional approach with extensive knowledge of payroll regulations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with external partners.
It’s going to act as payroll single point of contact for Vodafone Servizi and Tecnologie, a Vodafone Group owned company with ~900 employees in Italy performing activities in Network and Digital & IT areas. He/she will be part of an international HR team with many opportunities to share best practices across 11 markets in Europe and have a direct connection with Global Reward team at Vodafone Group.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
Payroll Management:
• Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution in collaboration with the outsourced provider.
• Verify and validate payroll data, including salaries, bonuses, deductions, share plans and benefits.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations and company policies.
Vendor Management:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the outsourced payroll provider, addressing any issues or discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor the performance of the outsourced payroll provider, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of payroll processes and reports provided by the vendor.
Compliance and Reporting:
• Stay updated on payroll laws and regulations to ensure the company’s payroll practices remain compliant.
• Prepare and submit required payroll reports to relevant authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Assist in internal and external audits related to payroll.
Employee Support:
• Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing timely and accurate information.
• Provide guidance and support to employees for specific cases related to salaries, contribution to social security, retirements, welfare programs and income taxes.
• Educate employees on payroll policies and procedures, ensuring they understand their payroll-related entitlements and obligations.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• English – at least basic level of proficiency to manage written communications.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management, preferably within an outsourced payroll environment.
• In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in payroll software and systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Certification in Payroll (e.g., CPP, FPC) is a plus.
