Senior Data Scientist
Role purpose
In the Big Data Chapter / Big Data and Artificial Intelligence team we are looking for a Senior Data Scientist who will be responsible for providing strategic business information that generates revenue, reduces costs and improves the customer experience
Job responsibilities
• Delve into the data of different systems, structured and unstructured, both in batch and in real time, to discover hidden relationships and useful information
• Translate complex datasets into key insights and powerful business capabilities
• Use of machine learning / AI algorithms to run models on network investments, predictive maintenance
• Use of machine learning / AI algorithms to perform modeling for marketing and sales: abandonment models, modeling of next best actions, customer segmentation, store locations etc ...
• Develop in-depth dashboards to enable faster decision making
• Identification of new data sources and evaluation of emerging technologies for the use of data discovery
• Mentoring of the young data scientists in the team
• Presentation of the results to a technical and non-technical audience
• Identification of new trends and analytical opportunities to drive the innovation agenda in Vodafone's global team

Your skills and qualifications must include:
• Master's degree in quantitative fields such as mathematics, statistics, computer science and engineering
• 4+ years of experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of Machine Learning / AI models and optimization algorithms
• Practical experience with the Big Data Analytics landscape and related tools, in particular Hadoop, Hive / Impala, Spark (pyspark). Previous experience running analytics on cloud platforms is an advantage
• Excellent knowledge of code using Python and experience in Python data analysis libraries such as panda, numpy and scikit-learn
• Expert level experience with the mathematical foundations of modern machine learning / AI algorithms and statistics
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical results to a non-technical audience
• Ability to guide junior data scientists in their skills, motivate them and build the company foundation for future growth
• Curiosity, creativity and empirical mentality
• Being detail-oriented
Basic knowledge of italian language is required.
