What will you be doing?
As a Secure By Design Specialist you will be responsible for all Cyber Security Consulting and Assessment activities including ensuring security design requirements have been met, defects identified through security testing have been mitigated and any deviation from policy have been accurately captured through the risk management process. You will work alongside the secure by design managers to make the projects and “business as usual” changes which will encompass the full range of IT technologies, and will also be likely to have a particular focus on:
Enterprise: Fibre and SDH transport networks, IP and MPLS networks, Converged Enterprise services (e.g. VoIP services and Virtual Contact Centres).
Consumer: Mobile Access and Core networks, Voice over Wi-Fi/VoLTE, Broadband delivery and TV distribution.
Internal: Corporate Network technologies, End user computing / BYOD, Network Management and other OSS Systems.
Who are we looking for?
This role would best suit a proactive individual with strong communication and technical skills with the ability to adapt in unfamiliar environments, alongside the following:
- Basic understanding of security strategy, architecture, design and assurance concepts
- Understanding of how technology choices impact Information Security
- Basic knowledge of security in critical network and IT systems, in some of the areas specified in the “Relevant Technology Experience” section
- Ability to scope penetration tests and guide projects on the remediation of identified vulnerabilities
- Knowledge of current vulnerabilities and trends in vulnerabilities / threat landscapes
- Strong technical skills, with the ability to adapt in unfamiliar environments
- Ability to quickly assimilate knowledge from outside own area of expertise
- Holding, or able to obtain, SC-level security clearance within two years’ time.
- Operating system and database security (e.g. SQL vulnerabilities and encryption techniques)
- Cloud and virtualisation security (IT and Networks)
- Network security (e.g. VPN/VRF, MPLS, routing protocols, layer 2 and layer 3 security) and network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, SSH, DNS)
- Mobile Networks (2G/3G/4G) and/or large scale MPLS networks, and their particular security considerations
- Security considerations for Operational Support Systems, IP Telephony, SS7, IMS networks, SMS, MMS, Voicemail, Content Delivery Networks, SDH, DSL and Microwave
- Security control deployment / operation (e.g. Firewalls, Proxies, Network Access Control, IPS/IDS, Web Application Firewalls, Privileged User Access Management, Identity & Access Management, Data Loss Prevention, Security Information and Event Management, Vulnerability Management)
- High level design/Low level design experience or knowledge
