About this Role

We are seeking an Ab Initio Data Engineering Specialist to design, develop and support enterprise-scale data warehouse and ETL solutions. This role involves end-to-end ownership of Ab Initio development activities—from requirements analysis and design through performance tuning and production support—ensuring high-quality, reliable and scalable data delivery aligned with business and operational needs.

What you’ll do

  • Participate in design and architecture discussions for Ab Initio development projects, owning delivery from requirements capture to HLD, LLD and performance tuning
  • Understand and apply ETL architecture and high-level designs in solution implementation
  • Lead and contribute to new technical initiatives within the wider Ab Initio toolset
  • Make informed design decisions related to performance and operational stability
  • Write, debug and fine-tune Ab Initio graphs to meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Develop, debug and maintain Unix shell scripts supporting ETL execution
  • Execute and monitor ETL processes in Unix and Ab Initio environments
  • Create and manage project sandboxes and development environments
  • Perform root cause analysis for data migration issues and implement corrective code changes
  • Identify bottlenecks, optimisation opportunities and improvements within ETL and migration processes
  • Manage Ab Initio code versioning, access controls and environment configurations
  • Support Dev, Test and Production environments to ensure defect-free deliverables
  • Perform regular health checks and housekeeping activities to minimise incidents
  • Proactively support evolving business requirements and associated technologies
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve service requests and meet SLA commitments
  • Work flexibly across shifts, including weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis

Who you are

  • Strong expertise in data warehousing and ETL concepts
  • Extensive hands-on experience with advanced Ab Initio tools and technologies
  • Good working knowledge of SQL, Unix/Linux environments and scripting
  • Experience creating high-level design documentation and leading end-to-end solution delivery
  • Exposure to telecommunications data environments
  • 3–4 years of relevant professional experience in Ab Initio development
  • A graduate qualification such as B.E., B.Tech, MCA or M.Sc
