About this Role
As a Database Build Specialist within the Infrastructure Build Service function, you will be responsible for managing daily database build requirements and resolving related issues. This role demands a strong understanding of database clustering, backup strategies, and performance tuning. You will play a key role in supporting the Oracle Uplift Programme, ensuring seamless upgrades, patching, and modernisation of database environments.

You bring a solution-focused mindset and are comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments. You are committed to maintaining high availability, security, and performance of database systems while engaging with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.
What you’ll do
- Manage and troubleshoot daily database build activities.
- Support Oracle Uplift Programme through upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
- Consult on new database designs for operating companies.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle products.
- Provide performance recommendations to development and planning teams.
- Execute database migrations including cross-platform, RAC, and ASM transitions.
- Administer RAC and ASM technologies across standalone and clustered environments.
- Maintain ASM disks and diskgroups.
- Work with Oracle Cloud platforms.
- Utilise Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and management.
- Apply shell scripting for automation and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and manage tasks using ticketing tools.
What skills you need
- Expertise in Oracle versions 11g/12c/19c/21c/23ai, RMAN, ASM, RAC, and Data Guard.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle architecture and upgrade methodologies.
- Familiarity with Oracle Cloud technologies.
- Experience in Linux/Unix environments.
- Understanding of incident, change request, and task management processes.
- Proficiency in at least one ticketing tool.
- Oracle 12c/19c Certification preferred.
- RAC Administration Certification is an added advantage.
