About this Role
As a Firewall Engineer within the implementation team, the individual will be responsible for managing firewall rule bases and providing operational support for major global data centres supporting telecom infrastructure across Europe. The role involves validating and performing routing checks for complex network connectivity in telecom projects, ensuring timely task completion in accordance with established processes. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently and contribute to team success by supporting colleagues when needed.
Who are you
- A collaborative and proactive individual with a strong sense of ownership and a positive attitude.
- A professional with 4 to 6 years of experience in enterprise or ISP-level operations, particularly in firewall and network security.
- An effective communicator, both written and verbal, who can work with global clients and cross-functional teams.
- A senior team member capable of handling escalations and mentoring others in a team of 10+ members.
What you’ll do
- Deliver firewall rule base requests with accuracy and prioritisation.
- Perform end-to-end validation and routing checks for network connectivity.
- Handle critical escalations and ensure quality delivery within stipulated timelines.
- Interact with stakeholders to resolve issues and support team members as needed.
What skills you need
- Hands-on experience with Azure firewalls (Native FW, NSG) – Primary
- Strong understanding of Microsoft AZ-900 networking concepts.
- Proficiency in programming with high-level languages such as Python, Ruby, Perl, Go, Ansible.
- Experience with Juniper (SRX), VMware NSX DFW, Cisco, Checkpoint, FortiGate.
- Knowledge of NSX-V / NSX-T, security standards, zoning, and compliance.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills in networking, routing, and VPN.
- Soft skills including effective communication, ownership, and initiative.
