About this Role

We are seeking an experienced DC Core Network Service Design Engineer to join our centralised Data Centre Network Design team within Vodafone Technology. This role focuses on end‑to‑end network service design for complex data centre and cloud connectivity projects, ensuring solutions align with Vodafone’s group strategy, security zoning, and routing standards. The individual will work closely with architects, subject matter experts, project teams, and regional stakeholders to design scalable, secure, and future‑ready network services.

What you will do

Own and deliver high‑level design (HLD) documentation for data centre network service solutions.Design and support migration of services from legacy network environments to SD‑WAN, Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, and private cloud platforms in line with Vodafone security and routing standards.Analyse service requirements to create high‑performance, optimised, and resilient network designs.Collaborate closely with regional operating companies, IP‑MPLS backbone teams, and other design functions to ensure harmonised solutions.Forecast future capacity, availability, and performance requirements based on business demand and usage trends.Evaluate multiple solution options and provide clear technical recommendations.Support network service design and operational activities to enable service restoration and seamless connectivity.Manage design aspects of data centre network projects and provide timely, structured updates to stakeholders.Communicate solution strategy and technical concepts effectively in internal and global forums.

Who you are

An experienced network design professional with extensive hands‑on expertise in data centre network architecture and service design.Skilled in infrastructure and network automation using tools such as Terraform and Ansible, with working knowledge of Python, JSON, XML, Ruby, and YAML.Strong in routing and switching technologies, including IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, BGP, BFD, VXLAN, segment routing, and fabric‑based architectures.Experienced in virtualisation, cloud, microservices, containers (for example Docker), and DevOps‑driven delivery models.Confident working across international, distributed teams in complex enterprise environments, with fluent English communication skills.Able to lead technical discussions, influence design decisions, and present complex ideas clearly to varied audiences.Certified in Cisco technologies, such as CCNA or CCNP Data Centre, with hands‑on experience using Cisco Nexus platforms.
