About this Role

We are seeking a Lead Cloud Economist to establish and scale a Cloud Finance Management (FinOps) practice from the ground up. This role focuses on defining strategy, implementing governance, and delivering cost optimisation across cloud environments, starting with AWS and expanding to Azure and GCP. The individual will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to improve cost visibility, drive accountability, and deliver measurable financial outcomes.

What you’ll do

Define and implement the Cloud Finance Management vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectivesEstablish governance frameworks, processes, policies, and best practices for cloud cost managementAnalyse cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP to identify optimisation opportunitiesDeliver actionable recommendations including resource optimisation, savings plans, and efficient architecture designBuild dashboards and reports to track cost trends, drivers, and optimisation progressExtend FinOps practices to multi-cloud environments with consistent governance and reportingCollaborate with engineering, finance, and business teams to drive cost accountabilityImplement tooling and automation for cost tracking, reporting, and optimisationDevelop cloud cost forecasting models and integrate them into budgeting processesMonitor financial performance, conduct variance analysis, and improve forecasting accuracyPromote a culture of cost awareness and provide guidance on best practicesContinuously enhance FinOps practices through innovation and updated knowledge of cloud pricing models

Who you are

Extensive experience in cloud cost management and optimisation across AWS, Azure, and GCPProven ability to build and scale a Cloud Finance Management (FinOps) practiceStrong understanding of cloud pricing models and billing mechanismsHands-on experience with AWS cost management tools and familiarity with Azure and GCP equivalentsProficiency in data analysis, visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and scripting (e.g., Python)Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and understanding of cost implicationsStrong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present insights clearlyDemonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilitiesRelevant certifications in cloud or FinOps are desirable
