About this Role
What you’ll do
Performance Testing Delivery
- Define and implement performance testing strategies aligned to business objectives, project risks, and delivery schedules.
- Understand telecommunications technology landscapes, delivery approaches, and strategic initiatives to determine appropriate testing methodologies.
- Gather requirements, develop dynamic test scripts and scenarios, execute performance tests, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain test plans, test scripts, test data, and supporting documentation.
- Analyse performance test results and provide actionable recommendations using both technical and business-focused reporting.
- Support issue identification, troubleshooting, and resolution activities in partnership with application and development teams.
- Ensure all testing activities are delivered to agreed milestones, quality standards, timelines, and service levels.
Technical Leadership and Continuous Improvement
- Establish metrics, processes, governance standards, and reporting mechanisms for effective test delivery.
- Promote automation and identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
- Drive reusability of non-functional testing assets, including scripts, datasets, and frameworks.
- Contribute lessons learned, best practices, and process improvements to enhance overall testing capability.
- Mentor colleagues and support capability development across the testing community.
- Provide effort estimation and budget inputs for performance testing initiatives.
Technical Execution
- Design and execute performance tests using tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, SOAP UI, and related technologies.
- Develop and customise scripts using C, Java, VB macros, SQL, and shell scripting where required.
- Perform volumetric analysis and validate non-functional requirements.
- Analyse Java/JVM performance, garbage collection behaviour, class loading, thread dumps, and database performance.
- Monitor and profile application environments using tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, HP Diagnostics, and CA Wily.
- Support testing activities within CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based environments.
- Utilise supporting tools such as Fiddler, Firebug, HAR, and Lighthouse where applicable.
Stakeholder and Service Management
- Collaborate effectively with product owners, IT operations teams, development teams, and business stakeholders.
- Provide regular status updates and communicate risks, issues, and dependencies proactively.
- Support delivery in alignment with agreed testing methodologies, governance standards, and service expectations.
- Contribute to resource planning and recruitment activities in partnership with testing leadership teams.
Who you are
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering performance testing solutions within large-scale, multinational environments.
- Experience working in telecommunications, digital platforms, enterprise applications, or complex technology ecosystems.
- Strong expertise in performance test planning, scripting, execution, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience working within cloud-native environments and CI/CD delivery models.
- Demonstrated knowledge of performance monitoring, profiling, and root cause analysis.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with LoadRunner, JMeter, SOAP UI, or equivalent performance testing tools.
- Knowledge of multiple protocols including Web HTTP and enterprise application technologies.
- Proficiency in Java, C, SQL, shell scripting, and automation techniques.
- Strong understanding of JVM architecture, garbage collection, thread analysis, and application performance diagnostics.
- Experience with Oracle and SQL Server database performance analysis.
- Familiarity with APM and monitoring solutions such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, HP Diagnostics, and CA Wily.
- Understanding of non-functional requirements analysis and workload modelling.
