Role Purpose
The Public Cloud Engineer is responsible for managing project-driven integration and day-to-day administration of cloud solutions, focusing on AWS. The role involves developing prototypes, designing and building modules for cloud platforms, conducting peer reviews, maintaining coding standards, and driving automation and integration for AWS and tenant workloads.
Key Accountabilities & Decision Ownership
Manage integration and administration of cloud solutions.Develop, maintain, and optimize business outcomes for cloud platforms.Conduct peer reviews and uphold coding standards.Drive automation and integration for AWS and project workloads.Build and deploy AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation and Terraform.Use Ansible & Python for routine tasks (e.g., user management, security hardening).Provide consultancy for migrating on-premises applications to the public cloud.Design and deploy direct connect networks between AWS and datacenters.Train and develop AWS expertise within the organization.Troubleshoot cloud network, storage, and performance issues.Support DevOps culture and methodologies.
Core Competencies, Knowledge & Experience
Profound expertise in AWS cloud technology, networking, security, and platforms.Experience with AWS services: VPC, EC2, ECS, S3, EBS, Glacier, ELB, Elastic IPs, Lambda.Automation skills: CloudFormation, Ansible, Python.DevOps tools: AWS CodePipeline, HashiCorp Stack (Packer, Terraform), Docker, Kubernetes.Experience with AWS organization and multi-tenant account setup.Familiarity with multiple programming/markup languages is a plus.Good documentation and communication skills.Degree in IT (any), with 2–3 years in cloud computing or 4–5 years in enterprise IT.
Must-Have Technical/Professional Qualifications
Knowledge of ITIL, SOX, and security regulations.3–5 years in programming/systems analysis with agile frameworks.Experience with web applications and hosting.DevOps experience in cloud environments.Experience managing business-critical environments.AWS architect/operations associate certification preferred.Telecom industry experience preferred.
