About this Role

We are seeking a senior quality engineering professional to lead and scale enterprise-wide test automation and AI-enabled quality practices across multiple Vodafone markets. This is a hands-on leadership role combining deep automation expertise with strategic ownership of frameworks, governance, and delivery outcomes. The role focuses on building scalable, AI-augmented automation capabilities that improve release speed, reduce risk, and deliver measurable business value aligned to Vodafone’s Customer, Growth, and Simplicity priorities.

What you will do

  • Define and own an enterprise automation strategy covering UI, API, mobile, integration, and end-to-end testing across Vodafone markets.
  • Establish and govern automation standards, reusable frameworks, asset libraries, and best practices.
  • Embed shift-left and shift-right testing within Agile and SAFe delivery models, ensuring continuous and feedback-driven quality.
  • Own governance for automation coverage, stability, execution cadence, maintenance, and technical debt management.
  • Track and report automation KPIs including coverage, regression cycle time, defect leakage, efficiency gains, and FTE savings.
  • Design, evolve, and provide oversight for enterprise-grade automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, and related tools.
  • Drive API-first automation strategies for microservices and backend-heavy platforms.
  • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to enable gated quality at every stage.
  • Champion AI and GenAI adoption, including self-healing automation, intelligent test optimisation, AI-driven defect analytics, and GenAI-based test generation.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and scale AI agents and GenAI tools to advance autonomous quality engineering.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop automation leads and engineers across programmes, fostering engineering excellence.
  • Align automation delivery with PI planning, sprint objectives, and release calendars.
  • Engage with programme leaders and senior stakeholders to present automation roadmaps, maturity assessments, and value realisation.

Who you are

  • An experienced quality engineering leader with extensive hands-on expertise in test automation and enterprise testing.
  • Strong in modern automation tools and frameworks including Playwright, Selenium, API automation, and mobile testing.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and/or Python with a solid grasp of automation architecture.
  • Experienced in CI/CD integration, particularly within Azure DevOps environments.
  • Knowledgeable in AI, GenAI, and intelligent automation concepts applied to quality engineering.
  • Comfortable influencing across global, multi-market, and multi-vendor delivery environments.
  • A collaborative communicator who can translate complex technical concepts for senior leadership audiences.
  • Curious, growth-oriented, and motivated to experiment with emerging technologies to improve quality outcomes.
