About this Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our Software Engineering team in Pune. This role involves designing and operationalising data processing systems, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to technical excellence across projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cloud data engineering, particularly with GCP BigQuery and Airflow, and a passion for continuous learning and innovation.
What you’ll do
- Translate high-level designs into detailed low-level designs for data engineering solutions.
- Build and operationalise data processing systems aligned with project architecture.
- Apply advanced knowledge of GCP BigQuery and Airflow to optimise development workflows.
- Identify and implement cloud-native data pipeline patterns, overcoming platform limitations creatively.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in GCP Data Engineering, mentoring junior colleagues.
- Lead small teams or projects from initiation to closure when required.
- Drive process improvements, resource optimisation, and tool adoption to enhance delivery quality.
- Contribute technical expertise to internal Guilds and collaborative forums.
Who you are
- Proven experience with GCP suite, especially BigQuery.
- Prior exposure to MPP databases such as Teradata and PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer for job scheduling.
- Minimum 8 years of overall experience, with at least 4 years in cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure).
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer (preferred).
- Holds a degree in Computer Science or related field (B.E./B.Tech, BCA/MCA, BSc/MSc).
- Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning and applying new technologies.
- Committed to delivering defect-free development and timely task completion.
