About this Role

We are seeking a skilled OSS Support Engineer to join the Digital Networks & OSS team and support the operation, maintenance, optimisation and continuous evolution of telecommunications OSS solutions. This role focuses on monitoring and assurance platforms including Ciena, Infinera, Chronos, Infoblox Grid Master and Clavister InControl, supporting enterprise customers and Vodafone local markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high availability, performance and reliability of critical network monitoring applications while contributing to an exceptional customer experience

What you’ll do

  • Manage OSS applications, including configuration, implementation, change management, rollouts and operational support for all assigned services, including participation in on-call activities.
  • Perform health checks, monitoring and troubleshooting activities to maintain hardware and software platforms in an optimal operational state.
  • Resolve incidents, problems and service requests, including implementing workarounds, changes and corrective actions.
  • Produce timely major incident reports and actively drive preventive and corrective measures following service-impacting events.
  • Support system integrators in the deployment of hardware, connectivity solutions, EMS and NMS platforms across primary and secondary data centres.
  • Execute and coordinate BAU patching, upgrades and hotfix deployments in line with change management processes.
  • Modify and adapt existing software solutions where required to improve system performance, stability and customer experience.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support service delivery and operational objectives.
  • Ensure technical deliveries are fit for purpose and aligned with operational requirements.
  • Contribute to proactive service assurance and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in IT, telecommunications OSS application support or network operations environments.
  • Experience supporting OSS platforms such as Ciena, Infinera, Chronos, Infoblox Grid Master and Clavister InControl.
  • Good knowledge of Unix shell scripting, SQL and Python.
  • Experience working with databases including Oracle SQL, Oracle Exadata and MySQL.
  • Understanding of network management and integration protocols such as SNMP, CORBA and SOAP/XML.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive operational mindset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Understanding of operational support processes, incident management and change management practices.
