Job Role Related Content (Role specific)
The platform engineer delivers cloud infrastructure and software deployment automation on the projects within the Data Domain. Our goal is to create a fully operationalised data lake in GCP that with accurate cost allocation, tagging strategy, naming conventions, monitoring and request approval. Key focus for the engineer will be:
• Work with architects, DevOps engineers, to provision/deliver Google Cloud platform resources using GCP and CICD tools such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Github, GoCD etc.
• Proactively find ways to improve data lake monitoring, naming conventions, access control and data security – which may include integrating with corporate applications for UAM and reporting.
• Demonstrate a passion and commitment towards minimising costs through automation, GCP configuration and business alerts etc.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
• Expertise in public cloud PaaS, CaaS and IaaS tools and environments, particularly with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Demonstrable knowledge and expertise in Jenkins, GitHub, GoCD, Nexus or equivalent CI/CD tools
• Experience working with Google Cloud Build, Kubernetes, Cloud Data Fusion, Cloud Data Flow , Big Query , Big Data .
• Experience working with Terraform and a common scripting language (Bash, Python, Groovy etc.)
• Experience with common SDLC, including build tools, unit testing, continuous delivery and agile practices
• Experience working with Secret provisioning (Vault), data encryption and data pseudonymisation (AEAD). deployment.
