About this Role
What you will do
- Administer and support production Oracle databases and associated operational activities.
- Analyse database and application performance bottlenecks, including scripts, code and user-generated queries that may cause application slowness.
- Perform SQL and database performance tuning and support DML operations.
- Support database upgrades and migrations, including integrations with other RDBMS technologies.
- Apply knowledge of database architecture, memory architecture, storage architecture, clustering and high-availability solutions.
- Manage database backup and recovery activities.Support user access management and security audits.
- Monitor and participate in auditing and SOX compliance activities.
- Use monitoring and observability solutions such as Enterprise Manager, Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix.
- Perform log analysis, alert tuning, dashboard management and proactive monitoring.
- Develop and maintain environment support and maintenance scripts to automate BAU operational activities and improve system stability.
- Use advanced UNIX skills to manage jobs and batch processes and to tune or create processes where required.Work closely with application teams to support database operations.
- Use ticketing tools to manage operational activities and incidents.Provide on-call support for high-priority database issues.
- Contribute to proactive monitoring, automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement.
- Support service governance and end-to-end service stability and availability.
- Apply SRE practices and contribute to AI-driven optimisation initiatives across CRM and end-to-end operations.
Who you are
- You have 10 to 15 years of experience in application database support and administration.
- You have hands-on experience administering Oracle databases across multiple versions.
- You have practical expertise in database and SQL performance tuning.
- You understand Oracle and non-Oracle database architecture.
- You are experienced in configuring databases and providing operational support.
- You understand memory, storage and cluster architecture as well as high-availability approaches.
- You have advanced knowledge of UNIX, shell scripting and at least one scripting language, such as Perl.
- You have experience with proactive monitoring, operational automation, reconciliation and continual service improvement.
- You understand database upgrades, migrations, backup and recovery, security and user access management.
- You have experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Enterprise Manager, Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Splunk or Zabbix.You bring analytical, communication, stakeholder-management and technical-leadership capabilities.
- You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Telecom industry knowledge would be advantageous.ITIL certification is desirable.
