About this Role

 

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join our TELCO IT team in Pune. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of functional, integration, end-to-end, and automation testing across web applications, ensuring quality, reliability, and performance throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Playwright automation using JavaScript/TypeScript, combined with experience in API testing, CI/CD integration, and modern web technologies. Working closely with Developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA professionals, and DevOps teams, they will contribute to designing, developing, executing, and maintaining scalable automation solutions that support continuous testing and high-quality software releases.

What you’ll do

 

  • Design, develop, execute, maintain, and optimise automated test suites using Playwright with JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Perform functional, integration, end-to-end, and automation testing across web applications.
  • Execute manual and automated testing activities for software releases through GitHub Workflows and automated pipelines.
  • Create and maintain reusable automation frameworks, test assets, and supporting documentation.
  • Validate REST APIs and contribute to comprehensive testing strategies covering UI, API, and end-to-end scenarios.
  • Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA professionals, and DevOps teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Participate in product design reviews and provide quality-focused input on requirements, designs, schedules, and potential risks.
  • Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, validate fixes, and support timely resolution of quality-related issues.
  • Support test data management activities, including the use of mocks and stubs where appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot failures across user interface, backend, and CI/CD pipeline layers.
  • Contribute to backlog refinement, sprint planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and release validation activities.
  • Maintain test traceability, testing documentation, and automation standards.

Who you are

 

  • Degree or higher qualification in Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in QA Automation Engineering, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), or a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright automation using JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
  • Good understanding of UI automation, API testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with React-based applications, REST APIs, and microservices architectures.
  • Knowledge of automation frameworks, test design patterns, and reusable test architecture principles.
  • Experience managing test data and implementing mocks and stubs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across application, backend, and deployment environments.
  • Practical knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
  • Experience creating and maintaining automation test suites and related documentation.
  • Understanding of reconciliation activities and defect investigation processes.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative approach with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Exposure to Java, Selenium, JMeter, and cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Microsoft Azure would be advantageous.
